not good news
He didn't get the job. It actually WASN'T a job offer.
Let me explain this further.
He received a voicemail on Friday that said, "We have to fill a 5th grade teaching position IMMEDIATELY. We've reviewed your resume you seem like exactly what we're looking for. Please call xxx-xxx-xxxx and ask for the Principal as soon as possible."
He called back and spoke with the Principal, and she asked him if he was available to meet with her right then and there. (He wasn't able to - he was subbing in central Suffolk).
He shows up for their meeting/interview yesterday, and after talking to the Principal for 10 minutes, she says, "I'd love to offer you a position. Let me explain....." - Then she goes on to explain that she
wants him to sub about 3 times a week from now til JUNE to see how well he "fits into the environment, develops a rapport with the staff, students, etc".... then he'll be up for a permanent classroom in September. What the efffffffffff.
How misleading is that?!?!
She wants him to work for sub pay - not even every day - not eligible for benefits, parking pass, ANYTHING. This is SUCH CRAP. He makes more money and uses less gas subbing out here. AND he's now #1 on the sub list for a particular district about 20 minutes east of here, so his work opportunities should pick up a little bit more in the near future.
So I guess its back to the drawing board.....

Yes, the subbing is steady now, which is good.
He worked everyday last week, and was called for yesterday too (although he couldn't go, 'cause he had that "interview")

Very misleading. I wouldn't to work for someone like that. I understand wanting to interview someone but at least by upfront about the job.

I think that is the district I live in, and people in this area always talk about how great the district is. Maybe they have the luxury of being able to string people along if teachers want to get into the district badly enough.
It stinks! He would be better off staying where he is and moving his way up in a district closer to home
