Re: Shopping for food?
I do regular groceries at Waldbaum or with Peapod.
Costco for meats, cleaning supplies and paper goods.
Target for personal products like shampoo, bath soap etc.

Mainly BJ's & Costco... I do occasionally go to Waldbaums, King Kullen, Stop Shop or which ever one I happen to be passing by...

Re: Shopping for food?
PATHMARK -- its the cheapest place, it has double coupons and the people are very nice
I do my meat and produce shopping at a local market.

Re: Shopping for food?
I did shopping for the first time at King Kullen the other week. I'm usually a Stop & Shop gal and I can't believe how much cheaper it was.
I spent $97.00 with no coupons at King Kullen what would normally cost me around $130.00 - 135.00 with circular coupons and customer loyalty coupons at SS.
I like the SS in my town better than the King Kullen but I think I'll be doing my shopping there instead.

My original post about was about Shoprite in Plainview.
I've been to almost every store in East Northport and hands down for price and selection, Shoprite still beats them all. We try to do most of our weekly shopping at Trader Joe's and Giunta's for vegetables.
During the summer, when I go to take care of my Dad, on my way back I'll be doing our grocery shopping at Shoprite. For the same groceries it's at least 20-30% cheaper.
Everything in Stop and Shop is at least 25 cents to sometimes $1.50 more than what I was used to paying. That's a huge difference for so many items.
No wonder why Greenfield's Shoprite in Plainview is crowded every hour of every day.

Re: Shopping for food?
I have to add to this thread...
DH and I tried Waldbaums for the 1st time last weekend. we've been going to Stop & Shop for years but we hate the service at the store near us. at first we were very impressed with Waldbaums! they're super fast at the deli counter and the sales were awesome. but when we got the meat dept, they were cleaned out. they had practically nothing left! very disappointing. when we got to the dairy section, there was no 1% milk left and the only OJ on sale was Minute Maid
So, we ended up going to Stop & Shop on the way back for Tropicana (which is on sale every week there), meat and milk.

I find that the Shop Rite in Plainview (where I used to live has the best prices) Now I know why people from many other towns would shop there.
Since moving to East Northport, I am shocked to see how much more expensive the same exact items are in Stop and Shop... seriously, one week Soy milk was $2.89 at Shop Rite and it was $4.29 at Stop and Shop. I sound like an old man when I got there complaining about the prices.
I try to do a run when I visit my Dad as much as possible.
For meats and paper products... Costco Cereal, vitamins and a few other things... Trader Joes Produce.... Stop and Shop or Guinta's Meat Farms
I totally know what you mean. when we lived in Hunt., I would go to this one on my way home! Seriously, I'd walk out with so much for our money. I've yet to find a place like it in Queens.
