anyone else not good with make up?
I don't like to wear a lot, but I don't like looking washed out or boring either. I like a simple look I guess. Im just jealous of people who always look gorgeous. Whenever I try and follow peoples' make up tips I think I look like a clown! Anyone have tips?

i think bare minerals are foolproof. they can help you look naturally polished. as for colors...anything neutral is good. less is more!!

I second Bare Minerals. Or, a light tinted moisturizer!

Stick with the basics if its difficult.
I LOVE Bare minerals and is good for a beginner. Add some light or nude eye shadow...some black mascara and some neutral lip gloss.
A little brown eyeshadow can be used under the eye as a liner. I like that effect more then a harsh line of "eye liner".

you know...I keep wanting to try that stuff and then I always forget about it! I think I am just going to go for it! Where is the best place to get it? Don't they sell it at Ulta and Sephora? I think I'd want someone who knows what they are talking about to show me exactly which kind to get ! Thanks for the tips ladies :)

Yep...Or Try QVC When they showcase it, you get great ideas, or if you order from their website ( goggle it) you get a free DVD I think to show youhow to use it and the website has CHEAP combo sales of the stuff.

I love MAC... If you spend over 50.00 (which is really easy to do), they give you a "free" (lol) application of makeup. They also give tips while applying to tell you how to replicate what they did. That's how I learned to shade, etc.

Re: anyone else not good with make up?
a good thing to do is to go to a makeup counter and have someone apply your makeup - pay attention and ask a lot of questions while they apply it. hold a mirror up and watch the process - it helps a lot to have someone "teach" you as they apply it...that is how I learned a lot of my techniques.

well, at least you can learn the HOW's of applying makeup correctly, and then you can always tweak the colors and amount they use.

Re: anyone else not good with make up?
I feel like we should have a party and hire one of the women who does wedding makeup to teach us all - I think some of them do it!

Re: anyone else not good with make up?
I was just looking on LIW - Jacqueline Nicole does house parties - I'd host it if I had a house and not a small 1 bedroom apt

Peabody hosted one with Jacqueline before! It was a lot of fun and she gave us all great tips (and we all bought some of her makeup too!). There were about 10 of us I think, and she gave us all makeovers telling us the best colors and products for us. It was helpful.

I'll post here in case anyone else is interested--for the one Tara had I believe it was free because we all bought some of her makeup products. I dont know if it was officially a "makeover" party, but she spent about 10-15 mins with each of us applying makeup and telling us what looked best. Most of us spent $20 or more on makeup products from her. I also have a tiny one bedroom, but would offer if I had more room!
