Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
We recently paid off all credit cards. We each own one now but haven't used them since we paid them both off.

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
we have none--we both got rid of all of them because we were stupid with them in the past and accumulated debt that we couldn't pay off. We have some debt, but that is student loans and a car payment and the house of course.
I just applied for one to have in case of emergency.

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
I have 3 major CC-and 1 store card but only for the no interest thing for a year - and that will be paid off before the year is up. DH has 1 or maybe 2 I think. We pay off everything each month. I almost always use the CC just b/c it's easier then carrying cash - but I don't charge up more then I can pay off.

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
we have two credit cards probably combined the limit is probably 50k. Currently we have about 900 dollars on them which will be paid off in the next month. We charge all of our monthly bills and then pay the credit cards off. I think we will only be doing this for about 6 more months.

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
I have 2 credit cards which I use for online purchases and mainly pay using my ATM card for the rest of my things.
Very minimal debt. Mainly I forgo the things I want until I can afford them.

We have 2 credit cards - and we are in debt. One has a $23,000 limit and the other has about $10,000.

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
Dh and I each have 2 cards in our own names from before we were married, and then we have a joint one. We pretty much only use the joint one. All of our monthly bills and any shopping that month go on the card and we pay it off at the end of each month. The only debt we have is my student loan, our mortgage and our car lease.

I have 2, he has 1. We are working on paying them off. All together we probably owe about 10,000.

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
I have 3 credit cards that I've had for a while (one since 1993, one since 1998 and one since 2002). I will not close these cards b/c i've had them for a long time and my credit is pretty good b/c of them.
Two of those cards I put DH on- not has an authorized user but as the co-owner responsible for it. This has helped his credit go up a lot. He has one CC on his own and I think his limit is $2500.
The limits on my cards are: $24k, $18k and $12k. Right now I am carrying $5k of debt on the 18k card that I am paying off (down from $15k a year ago- so making progress).
After this is paid off NO MORE DEBT!!!
Right now I only use my CC for EZ Pass, Sirius and the Wine Club I belong to and I pay it off every month

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
We have quite a few CCs between the 2 of us (from before we got married) but are in the process of paying them all off and cancelling a few.

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
Zero debt.
I have some home improvements on a few cards that have a zero interest rate till the end of the year. I will pay those off right before the promotion ends. I figure why pay them off right away when my money can be making 4.25% interest in my checking account.

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
I have several of my own, and Dh has a couple. We carry no debt. Usually if we don't have the $ in the bank to pay the cards off at the end of the month, we don't buy it.

Us too but we did a lot of home improvements so I will transfer the balance again and have it paid off next year. I figure if the cc's are willing to give me an interest free loan, why take out a HELOC or 2nd mortgage. Otherwise, for everyday purchases I use AMEX and it is paid at the end of the month.

Very true. One other reason why I prefer to put the stuff on the credit cards is... i HATE having a balance on my CCs.
Doing it this way... I am more prone to pay them off with DJ cash and NOT touch my savings.
If I would pay them off ASAP with the savings... its more likely I will never replenish the savings. But with the balances sitting on the CCs... i have more "incentive" to get them paid off the right way.

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
I have 2 major ccs, and 3 store ccs. Not sure what the limits are honestly. but the only cc debt we have is under 2K on our home depot card for our recent den remodel (12 months 0% financing) other than that we pay in full each month!

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
We have a lot of cc debt because I used a zero interest card to transfer a student loan balance of about $10k and we purchased our car using a zero interest card (about $20k!). But, we've done it before when we did house renovations and had all the debt paid off by the end of the zero interest term. We pay a few thousand a month and will have them paid off before the zero interest term ends by the time the summer rolls around. It works out well for us because we can make big purchases without paying any interest. But we always make sure we have enough in savings to cover it if there's an emergency.

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
One of my cards, I have had since 1998 & has a pretty high limit. I have 2, & 1 store card, & DH has 1, but we have no CC debt--never had.
Our only debt is our car loan.

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
We have about 900 dollars spread out over two cards. However, we do not use cc anymore. I just don't see the need to charge anything I don't already have the money for. I could pay the 900 off right away, however, they both have no interest, so I am not in a rush.

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
Between the two of us we have alot of cards...around ten or so. But we have zero credit card debt.
If I have to, I use my American Express card from time to time which I have to pay the balance in full at the end of the month.

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
I have 5 major credit cards (when in the world did that happen?), and DH has 2 that I don't have. In addition, I have 3 store cards. With all those cards, DH and I each only have one that we use regularly for the majority of our purchases.
We have no credit card debt. We pay everything off monthly. The only way that we don't do that is if we're making a particularly large purchase and it's a no-interest financing plan

Re: Credit Cards...Debt...
we were in pretty bad debt throughout our college years and just got on track.
We had about $40k on our combined cards. We are now debt free but carry monthly balances and have prob 7 cards altogether.
Im sure when we own a home we will crank it back up w/ furniture expenses and such.
