When did you learn how to drive stick?
When I was 17, I bought a brand new jeep, and learned on the way home, as DH shouted shift out of his car window.  I wanted to drive it to school so bad the next day, he drove me around for hours in my neighborhood so I would learn how not to stall.

Most of the people whose cars I was in who had a stick were horrible at it! My one friend gave me bruises on the back of my head!

its weird so many don't know how. My cousin is used car shopping, and doesn't drive stick. That eliminates a lot of the possible car choices. I offered to teach her, but she is not interested.

My DH taught me how to drive stick (about 6years ago) on his Mustang GT. It was so powerful...it was great!

I actually just learned back in Feb when I bought my Audi. I wanted to buy one car in my life that was a manual... so I learned quickly.
My wife had a manual Hyundai that I had some practice on for the past few years... but that was for pure "emergency driving" only.

hmmm...probably about 15-16 years ago. Think it was with my VW golf. I actually miss having manual! I got sorta talked into an automatic when I got my car this February.

I learned about 5 1/2 years ago, and I got a new car last year that's a stick. I love it! I also feel that it makes you more aware as you drive.

My dad tried to teach me at 16 right after I got my permit. Not a good scene. But at 18, I bought a 5 speed Nissan and my stepdad taught me. After that, I bought my Civic, also 5 speed. Now that car is DH's.
It is so much fun, but driving 2 hours a day with it wasn't.

Believe it or not, my HS had a one day session to learn stick! They took us out the same day. I had 3 cars that were stick but now I have an automatic. I miss my stick!
