4w6d 1st sono and dr. saw nothing, should I be worried?

Hi everyone, I am new here. I just had IVF for the first time and found out i was pregnant Friday 10/22. At this point I still don't feel it is real. Today I had my first sono one day shy of 5 wks and the dr. didn't see anything. He said he would have liked to but lets wait till Monday to do it again. My Beta went from 99.8 10/22, 261 10/25 and 10/28 751. They said it is "within" normal range so lets keep our fingers crossed. I think I might lose my mind by Monday. I am so scared. Is this normal that they didn't see anything at 4wks6dys? Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

I dont think they can even see anything on a sono until your beta is over 1,000.

I would not be concerned yet. I went at 5.5 weeks and barely saw anything with my DD

why would they even have you come in for a sono that early?? is this an RE or an ob/gyn?
i am the same exact as you, 4w6d. i had a sono the other day for OHSS and they said its absolutely too early to see anything.
i wont have my first one until 6weeks. you can have it during week 5 and see a sac and a fetal pole if you are lucky.
you are wayyy too early. if your betas are normal and they dr. told you not to worry, i wouldnt worry. also since your beta is under 1000 theres no way they would see anything.

He is my RE, the just scheduled me for a 5 wk sono, I thought it was early too. That is so funny we are exactly the same, I am afraid to ask what your beta is. I am a little nervous that they are low because of what I read but the nurse said they are normal so I am trying to think positive. Thanks to both of you for calming me a little!

my betas were high, they were 10/21 8dp5dt 197 and 10/23 10dp5dt 479. there is speculation of twins cause we put back two perfect embies, but i just want to see a heartbeat and know theres at least ONE healthy one in there!!

but it doesnt matter what they are as long as they go up appropriately in the given time frame and yours did. i am really surprised they would have you do a sono this early. especially when your beta hasnt even gone over 1000. even a 5 week sono is early. you may see a sac and fetal pole but not necessarily both and unlikely to see a HB. i happened to have a sono earlier this week at 4w4d due to OHSS symptoms. the doctor said every black spot looks like a baby on a sono that early. he didnt even show me the screen although i peaked at some of the printouts. he said theres nothing definitive to see that early.

oh and i dont feel like its real either! i suppose thats normal when it takes so long to get here!! maybe once i see a heartbeat!

I was in the exact same boat as you - I had my first sono at 4 weeks, 6 days and saw nothing. My beta came back at 901 that day, and I was told, as the pp mentioned, that you won't see anything until your levels hit 1,000 anyway.

Then I went in for my second sono at 5 weeks, 6 days and saw significant growth - a gestational sac and a yolk sac, but no fetal pole.

I am scheduled to go back in a week, when I will be 6 weeks, 6 days, and just praying that the fetal pole will be present and maybe even a heartbeat.

I found this website: Early Fetal Development and it did make me feel a little better!!

Good luck - I hope you see lots more when you return next week!

My RE did a sono last week at 5 weeks on the dot. All we saw was a sac and no yolk. It was just too early. Yesterday we went back at 6 weeks and there was the yolk, fetal pole and heartbeat Chat Icon . Hang in there - you are still too early to see something. It's amazing what a few more days can do.

Crashing....

When you said you saw nothing -- did you just see the empty black sac? Because if that is what you saw - you are right on track I think.

I had a sono at 4 wks -- and we only saw an empty sac. You can see a pic in my albums. Lots of Chat Icon sticky dust your way!!!

All my RE said was he thinks that he can see the beginning of something but not enough to be sure. I guess I will know tomorrow...wish me luck!
