$5 grab bag gift for a 6 year old boy ... Suggestions?
I'd go a couple dollars more but don't want to be a big rule breaker.

Try the 5 Below store in Levittown. They had Toy Story Operation for $5 and some cool Lego building games and build your own battleship all for $5.

That five below is the only one on LI, at least for right now. It's a great store!
What about some matchbox cars? Or a paperback book?
