5 weeks and not much on the ultrasound

I am new here.. I went to my first doctors appointment and they thought based on my LMP that I was 7 or 8 week. They saw the gestational sack and the yolk sack. She is measuring me at 5 weeks, she is not sure if its viable. She had blood drawn to check progesterone and HCG level. I hope to get them by tomorrow and have another ultrasound on the 20th. Has this happened to anyone, should I be worried. This my first pregnancy.

Yep... at what we thought was 8 weeks they barely saw anything. Turns out, I was only 6 weeks. Despite basing how far along I was by my LMP, I ovulated later than we thought pushing back how far I was and my EDD.

Thank you for your response. It really helps to hear that. I am freaking out. Plus my OB was a bit negative that did not help. It was the first time I saw her.

Could you only be 5 weeks? My dr sent me for a sono for some reason at 5 weeks and saw what you saw. Went back at exactly 8 weeks and all measured exactly 8 weeks and fine...heard heartbeat and everything.

Same thing happened to me. They barely saw a sack....and told me that maybe I ovulated much later...because I should have been about 5+ weeks ...and I was measuring only about 4. So I went back a week and a half later and they discovered twins =) Good luck!

Sounds totally normal to me, I wouldn't worry about it though I know that's easier said than done. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: 5 weeks and not much on the ultrasound

Same thing JUST happened to me!

I went in and according to my LMP I would have been 7 weeks 4 days. I know I have long cycles so I expected to be a week behind 7 weeks 4 days. I was only measuring at 6 weeks but the sac was empty, no yolk sac, nothing:

I freaked out and cried until I went to have another ultrasound 6 days later. Only 6 days later it looked like this(measuring at 7 weeks 4 days):

It even had a heartbeatChat Icon You are way to early to freak out, Try not to stress about itChat Icon

Re: 5 weeks and not much on the ultrasound

Thank you all. I am trying to not stress. it is hard because youthink you are farther along and then they say, you are not. I think the worst for me is that my dr seemed ready to write off my pregnancy. Instead of waiting to see if it is really 5 weeks.
Does anyone in nassau county have a good OB they liked and would recommend? I think once I get my results I am looking for someone else. She did not let us ask questions and never asked me how I felt or if I had any cramping or spotting. It was not what I expected.
