I need spelling help!! lol
I need to personalize something for my son. Its an ice cream bowl
His name ends with an S so it always confuses me
Do I write
Seamus' Ice Cream
or
Seamus's Ice Cream?
TIA!!!

Technically, Seamus's is correct.
I have Strunk & White's The Elements of Style in front of me and it's on page 1:
Form the possessive singular of nouns by adding 's. Follow this rule hwhatever the final consonant. Thus, write,
Charles's friend
Burns's poem
the witch's malice
Exceptions are the possessives of ancient proper names in -es and -is, the possessive Jesus', and such forms as for conscience' sake, for righteousness' sake...
Lots of people like to completely ignore this rule, however, and would write Seamus'. Do whichever you prefer, but Seamus's is technically the correct form.
