Re: 5th Grade Graduation...

I'm not and I don't know of anyone in our group who has done one, but my daughter does seem to believe that she should get an iPhone for her graduation...that seems to be the going gift for 5th grade graduation.

I am going to have family over with a pizza and cake. I am not going to give an iPhone, but we will do something. I am not sure if I will give a phone, I don't know what we will give.

We are doing a dinner at a pizzeria/restaurant. Due to the amount of weirdos we consider family it's close to 20 people

We would have a BBQ but we live in an apartment.

He doesn't have birthday parties anymore, so we wanted to do something special for him

He already has an iphone, guess I suck as a parentChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: He also didn't have a Communion so no big party there either

We just went out for lunch, but we did give him an iPhone... He needed a phone for 6th grade anyways.

We had no choice on the phone, to many trips away without us for the next year. However, three weeks in and he barely ever looks at it or texts anyone but his dad and I back. The thrill wore off real quick when he realized he can only text and call with it because we blocked everything else.

Maybe go out for dessert since that's her favorite. No gift no phone.

We did an immediate family dinner and a phone. Both my kids began letting themselves in the next year so a phone was necessary. No party.

Re: 5th Grade Graduation...

our district was 6th grade. We did do an immediate family party - bbq - nothing fancy and she did get a phone. It seemed any kid without a phone already got one for graduation and from what I remember almost all had a family party

she is "graduating" 8th grade this year - not sure on the gift yet but we are having again a family party. My family uses any excuse to try to get everyone together. My DD is the youngest of the cousins and some of them have kids, so it's nice when any can get together. All know there are no gifts required Chat Icon

We will probably do a dinner but no party. We just had her sisters communion party and we have a family wedding in May.
