6 days PP--does this look normal?

Every since my c-section Thursday I have has this insame swelling in my feet, ankles and up my legs and it is so bad I can barely walk and my feet and legs hurt to even touch them because they are so swollen. I have a crease in the top of my foot where it meet my legs because it's so swollen. I thought when you had the baby the swelling goes away, it did with DD, after I had her the swelling was gone. Does this even look normal?? You can see how puffed up the top of feet are and my swollen toes and ankles, can't even touch my legs...

If you are concerned or it gets worse CALL THE DOCTOR it can be a bad sign (for me it wasnt but it can be dangerous)

I had a c-section and my feet looked similar for around a week or so after I gave birth. If you have concerns though, call your doctor.

Oh good, I was worried that it meant something not good. Hoping it goes away soon but I didn't remember being this swollen after DD so i wanted to see if anyone else had swelling this bad.

Yep. Ham hock legs. Had a cs and same thing happened. Freaked me out. Looked like my grandmas legs. I did the happy dance when they went to normal.

Two weeks here! My feet did not go back to normal until about 2 weeks after my c/s. I would say if you don't notice the swelling going down in another week, mention it to your dr.

Totally normal for me. My feet were sooo swollen after my c/s with DS #1. It took a long time for it to go down. Just check with you Dr.

I wish I had taken a pic of my feet post c-section. They looked like monster feet. My toes were so far spread out because of how swollen they were and seriously my toes and foot looked like they were going to pop. AND it was incredibly painful.

My OB said it was perfectly normal and that the week after c-section was the worst. Within 2 weeks post op she said it should start going down. Took a long time for them to look normal again, but after 2 weeks they looked better.

Re: 6 days PP--does this look normal?

Believe it or not mine were way worse. I couldn't even fit my legs into my maternity pants. I was convinced something was seriously wrong with me. Dr. said that its not uncommon for csec patients to have a lot of swelling, by day 10 I started to lose almost 5lbs a day all in water. Took a full month for my legs to look normal again.

I didn't have a c-section but my feet were very swollen for appx.2-3 days after I gave birth. And then one day I woke up and my feet were back. I would give it a few more days and then call the doc if you're in more pain.Chat Icon

Yes! I had insane swelling, i could not walk or bend my legs. The swelling was waaay more painful than the csection incision, i was so scared. My dr promised it would go away and after 2 weeks postpartum it started to subside. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Hang in there!

Re: 6 days PP--does this look normal?

Totally normal. My legs were extremely swollen after my c-sect. MD said it was totally normal since you are pumped up with IV's and meds and just had major surgery. Mine went away within 2 wks after the c-sect. HTH.

Yup... that's what happened to me. Lasted until 12 days PP. Got REALLY bad. My DH called me Mrs. Klump because it looked like the special effects in The Nutty Professor. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Drink a LOT of water - some with lemon, which is a natural diuretic.

Keep your feet elevated.

And buy compression socks and put them on in the morning when your feet are the least swollen.

2 weeks after surgery, my feet are back to their normal selves! Chat Icon

This! I was so pizzed bc I had NO swelling before my CS & my legs & feet blew up after! I asked every nurse that came to examine me and they all said it was normal & wld take a week or 2 to go away... (They say you pee it out) Drink lots of water & eat watermelon. Dont know why but it works! It will start to go away.

Re: 6 days PP--does this look normal?

Very very normal, but if you have ANY difficulty in breathing, redness in the legs, tingling or anything other then swollen legs you need to call the doc. Pregnancy and childbirth put us at higher risks for complications. Just keep an eye on it!

Re: 6 days PP--does this look normal?

Wow. That totally looked like my feet right after I gave birth. I ended up in the ER two days after I left the hospital because of severe swelling (Edema, I believe it is called). I was so swollen, I started to feel chest pressure. Turns out, all the fluid I had backed up into by lungs & I had a slight case of pneumonia. I was prescribed a diuretic that I was on for 7 days & worked like a charm. Feel better. If your feeling any sort of chest pressure, go to the ER immediately!
