6yo Frozen Party & need opinion

My DD wants a Frozen ice skating party....
It's going to be from 2-3pm (however kids can arrive early to get fitted & can stay the rest of the session, ends at 4pm).
We only have the reserved tables for 1hr.
So we were going to skip lunch, because to give 6yo some skating tips/lessons, let them skate, & have cake, an hour is quick!

I was thinking of having the snacks on the table already & mid-party serve the cake.

"Do You Want To Build A Snowman?"
A snack mix with white cheese balls (snow balls), pretzel sticks (snowman arms) choco chips (eyes), & orange M&Ms (nose)

"Sven's Snack"
Baby carrots & ranch

Cake & hot cocoa

"Melted Snowmen"
Water bottles

1) Is that bad to not serve pizza? We've been to 2 parties this year where lunch wasn't served, only cake.

2) any other Frozen snack/food ideas? Do I need anymore? I don't want them hungry, but I want them to skate too.

An hour seems SO short! When will you have cake? A half hour in? It just seems very rushed. I personally think it's fine to not serve pizza since it's outside of a meal time, but my opinion is not the norm on here regarding that.

Is there any kind of way to reserve the table for after the session?

I agree with the PP that an hour is rushed.

We had DS party at the end of the December and a few kids arrived late, basically for the last 30 minutes in the room and food.

Re: 6yo Frozen Party & need opinion

The hour didn't bother me much, because we've been to parties at places that are only 75-90 minutes.
I need to find out how "strict" they are with making us leave the tables after the hour. We have only skated there 2x & it wasn't not super crowded.

Yes we planned to have the cake about 1/2 hour into it.
I plan to make my own invites, because kids need to know to wear pants, long socks, plan for jackets & gloves if desired (at 6 they may have never ice skated before).
I was going to specifically write something along the lines of: arrive between 1:30 & 2 to get fitted with skates (which can be time consuming for 6year olds) Chat Icon
The party is from 2-3
Kids welcome to stay & skate the duration of the session ending at 4pm.

Do they eat in the reserved area with their skates on? If so, then I would eat and do cake first, then have them go on the ice so they can skate from say 2:45 until 4 pm.

I think an hour to skate and eat snacks and cake seems extremely short. Are there bleachers people can leave stuff(or lockers you can get for them?). Then do the table at 3-4. This lets them skate then eat...then skate again if wanted? Most parties are around 90 or more. This would give say 60 mins of skate then you could relax and have cake/snacks. This way you could get the table during the skating time. I think for a 2-4 range party snacks and cake are fine. It is after lunch but before dinner time. Since you said open skate was until 430, the kids could skate again if they choose after you eat etc but you wouldn't need the table.

You could also let the kids skate for 1hour then use the tables for the 2nd hour. Use it to make snacks. Decorate snowman cupcakes or decorate snow flake cookies. Or you could use large marshmallows to make the snowman, with those thin small pretzels for arms and cut up candy corn noses and mini chip eyes.

Or do the table and food first then put their stuff in lockers and let them skate for however long they wish until the session ends. If you use the tables first there is no rush to get them on or off the ice.

Re: 6yo Frozen Party & need opinion

I haven't set the time yet, so I'm going to speak with the facility this coming weekend. Maybe they'll be flexibile with adding more time or wont kick us out of the area, especially since it's only 12 kids, if they all show.

There is an open area with benches & everyone just leaves their shoes there, but for a party I don't want parents to have to move or just have to leave their stuff, if our reserved area is only for a limited time.

ETA: the skate session is 1:30-4:00. That's why I was going to put on the invites: arrive between 1:30-1:45 to get fitted. Cake celebration 2-3, please stay for open skate until 4:00.
Maybe I'll just say the party is 1:30-4:00.
With a cake celebration from 2:00-3:00 & reserve the table for then?

I'm glad I asked, because it gave me some to think about & how I want the party to run. This will be our 1st non-home party. I thought it would be easier...not so much!

I agree with this...if it were noon, I would think some sort of lunch would be served, but being the time that you are talking about, cake and snacks is fine IMO.

Such a cute idea with all the snacks....very creative!!
