I don't have any pics but we have this paneling in every room of our house! In one room it is painted white, it kind of gives the room a "beachy feel" for some reason. LIke a PP said we are going to rip it all off and sheetrock over it. A friend of mine said her dad spackled over the ridges and sanded it and you couldn't even tell but we are not going to take the chance.

We ripped out all our panelling as well....It's not too hard if they just nailed it in...If they glued it you will most likely have to re-sheetrock....
In order to Paint Panelling you need to prime it first and then paint it....If it is grainy you will have to keep on painting it to ensure the paint gets into the grains....
Sorry, I don't have any pics....But I did take some paneling down on my own....
Good Luck!!!

my parents painted theirs after over 25 years of living in the house. I am sorry I have no photos, but it really transformed the room and it looks great!

I actually have it in many rooms in my house. I don't particulary mind it. If you check out my album for home you will see the rooms that are my living rooms and kitchen actually have it. In my husbands den we did a faux beadboard with it.... ck it out. You really can paint it any color.

We had the knotty pine in our basement when we moved in. We had it painted white. It made a HUGE difference!! We also had the regular 70s paneling upstairs but we just did sheetrock over it.

These are awesome -thank you. We're thinking of painting white and then installing wood/bamboo flooring.

Re: 70s wood panelling - any pics redone?
is there crown molding or are you going to install? if so, i would paint the walls ivory or a light beige and the molding white.

Re: 70s wood panelling - any pics redone?
Nope - no crown molding. Thanks for the idea though. We're looking to do it easy and cheap -so probably just paint it a white or cream color and do the wood flooring. There's sliding doors to the back porch so it gets alot of light.
