How Madison entered the world during hurricane Sandy!
Madison's arrival was much like the hurricane she was Born in she came fast and furious
We went to the hospital for my Bio physical profile sono on Monday october 29 ( also our two year wedding anniversary) because the OB's office was closed due to sandy and My dr told me the night before to go to the hospital for my test when we called the emergency # for the. Group Everything was okay in the sono but she dropped down to the 12th percentile for weight. Dr. told us that he would feel fine inducing me that day or waiting till Thursday night as originally planned Mike and I talked it over and we felt more comfortable just doing it then since we didn't know what might happened during the hurricane
I got A shower at the hospital and they brought me food and then they hooked me up to the nonstress test and there we found out I was contracting every 4-6 minutes on my own
I started the cervadril on Monday at 2 PM the medicine Stays in for 12 hours when I started this medicine I was 2 cm and my cervix was soft ( during this time we lost power at hospital and generators kicked on)
I was 2 cm and cervix was super soft when they took out the Cervadril at 2 AM
they were originally going start Pitocin immediately after they took out the cervadril But the doctor didn't want to do anything that could potentially cause stress to the baby at 2 AM during a hurricane when Hospital running on the generators and not everyone is at the hospital and if there's an emergency they might not be able to get there fast so we decided to start Pitocin at 7 AM so we were just can planning to hang out from 2 to 7 and hope to get some sleep
At 2:15 I went to the bathroom heatd a loud POP and as soon as I was done when I stood up my water broke
During the next half hour I started to feel contractions more regularly they went from tolerable to extremely painful probably between 2:25 and on
At 3 AM I asked for a shot of Demerol on the nurse came in I decided against getting the shot then because I think it is going to be a really really long day and Trying yo pace out the pain medicine well at 3:45 I finally had enough of being tough! I had to sit on the edge of the bed with every contraction coming every minute and they're getting extremely painful
poor Mike is thinking man Heather Might only be 3 cm now and she'saying they hurt this bad its gonna be a me a long day
I got the shot of dermerol at around 350 and then at 3:55 during one of my contractions I told the labor and delivery nurse that I felt an intense amount of pressure down low and I felt like I need you to push and i know why she told me that I shouldn't have that feeling and she checked me and I was fully dilated and she said I'm going to go get the doctor now so the doctor came in around 4 and he told us we are going to have a baby in 5 to 10 minutes and after a couple sets of pushes Madison came out at 4:23 AM
the Best news is that the pain medication didn't hit me yet because if it did Madison lungs could've been in trouble especially since she was so early she's born at 37 weeks three or four days so about 10 minutes after her birth the shot of Demerol Kicked in!! it definitely was not how I had ever imagined my delivery but I would not ask her anything else and we are so incredibly in love and I can't believe she's over a week old!!!
