8-12 month olds-What's was/is your bedtime routine?

I am on day 10 of NO SLEEP, desperation is beginning to set in, I can tell you I am a millimeter away of letting this kid CIO.

Anyways...

8-12 month olds-What's your bedtime routine?

Do any of your DC's have eczema? If so, do you skip the bath part every night?

How long do you start it before you put DC down?

Thank you, I need somewhere to start and Supernanny to come in and get this kid to start sleeping again otherwise i am going to go nuts! We tried co sleeping last night-she still woke up and we got NO sleep, i sleep more when we are up 2-3 times a night!

Thanks againChat Icon

I'm so sorry this is still going on!
We have been doing the same thing since about 3 months or whenever the colic ended...
Bath, story, milk, right to bed!
It doesn't take long, I usually have her in the bath before 6:30 and in her crib before 7.
Good luck!

Andrew has very bad excema so he only gets a bath either once a week or every other week. I wipe him down throughout the day if he gets dirty but he really doesn't.

Andrew goes to be now between 7:30-8.

I go upstairs about 20 mins before and get him dressed in his PJ's. I also lotion him up with California Baby Lotion which is Super Sensitive but also has a calming smell to it.

I do this all with the lights down really low. Then I put on his CD and humidifier (he loves the noise) And his nightlight.

I give him a huge hug and put him down in his crib.

Re: 8-12 month olds-What's was/is your bedtime routine?

My DS gets a bath every other night. I have 2 older kids so I cant devote individual time to him before bed, esp if my DH is working. But Im lucky, he goes down pretty easily. He has his last bottle around 7pm and then right into the crib. I do do a few minutes of special cuddling & kissing right before I put him in but then he is put down and I leave. When I had just one child, I would bath him every night sometimes just with water so he his skin wasnt getting dried out and them I had some quiet play time before his last bottle. (As he got older stories became part of the routine but not in the first year bc he didnt have interest and wouldnt sit still in my lap till he was 12 mths or so.) But then the same thing, into the crib while awake but relaxed. My DD was a little harder to do that with, she would wail when I put her down and I started the pattern of picking her up. I had to do CIO with her around 5 1/2 months and she adapted after a few days, quicker than I thought it would be. She would go down fine but would continue to wake at least 1x in the night until she was 1 1/2 - 2 yrs old. She's still the least solid sleeper of all 3 of them but she's getting better as she's getting older. Sleep training gets harder the older they get, I know some people think it's cruel but they have to learn how to soothe themselves for a good night's sleep - not just as babies but as toddlers, children and into adulthood.

nicholas just turned 10 months.

He goes to bed 6:30-7:00 PM without any problems usually

In the past month, he has climbed right up in his crib like its playtime and not bedtime. But I let him CIO for about 15 minutes and he goes to sleep.

just this past week he has gotten back to his routine i guess. I think it was seperation anxiety at night.

Good luck.

My DD is 10 months. She gets her last bottle at about 8 p.m. If its bath night (which is every 2-3 days), she gets a bath and then her PJ's. And she goes into her crib, with the lights on the dimmer, and I turn her mobile on... She still has it in her crib and it still fascinates her. Sometimes she'll go right to sleep, other times she babbles on and on. Key is to not go into her room at that time! She is very easy.

On the other hand, it can take more than 2 hours to get my DS down to bed and asleep Chat Icon I seriously need help with him!

Grace has ezcema and we do a bath every other night. We also lather her up with lotion after the baths and she is only in the bath for 5 minutes, 10 tops.

We try to read every night but sometimes Grace just want to climb all over me or DH and is too squirmy to sit down with a book.

EVERY night Grace and I (sometimes DH does this) we turn the lights out, I sit in the glider with her as she lays on the boppy. I give her a bottle and we turn on her "show". The show is the Fisher-Price Flutterby Dreams Soother:

This thing is awesome! It projects a show onto her ceiling and she is captivated by it. We have been doing this routine every night since she first came home from the hospital and both of us love it. HTH Chat Icon

DD is 15 months... Our bedtime routine has always been bath, pj's, low lights and music, bottle and book.

She has eczema - I don't always use soap in the tub - I just let her splash around the tub in lke warm water.

9 mos old. She has her afternoon nap somwhere b/w 3 and 4. We do dinner b/w 5 and 6, as close to 5 as I can get it. Then around 7pm I start to warm her bottle and get her PJs on. I dim all the lights so she knows that it's bedtime and we give her the bottle and put her upstairs. She doesn't need a bath to signal bedtime b/c we don't do one every night.

My son has an aveeno bath evey other night, no soap. Shampoo goes on just before he gets out.

He was a tough sleeper too. We used the book by ferber, modified. He has a music cd playing in his room softly all night that seems to relax him.

Brendan turns one next week. After dinner we go upstairs, put on his lotion and pjs and read a book or two. Then he gets a bottle and goes right into bed. He's never given me a problem going to sleep at night though.

We usually eat dinner around 6 or 6:30 and then we play with dd for a bit and around 7:30 I take her upstairs for her bath (I wash her with soap every other night) and then I read a book and then DH gives her a bottle and puts her in the crib. We have been doing this since about 2 months old.

our routine is dinner, bath (almost everyday b/c she loves the water!), bottle and then bed. she goes down everynight at 7-730 w/ fight. but, she usually falls asleep in my arms and then when i put her in the crib i wake her a bit so she learns to fall asleep in the crib.

Re: 8-12 month olds-What's was/is your bedtime routine?

Ella's 8.5 months old, and we have a "loose" routine. She'll have dinner, playtime, and then when I see her getting sleepy and wanting her bottle, I take her upstairs and she gets her last bottle in the glider while I sing to her (its usually 7:30-8pm). Sometimes she'll fall asleep in my arms, sometimes I'll put her in the crib drowsy. Thats MY routine, but Al does it differently, and when she stays at my mom's, its different again.

E's very adaptable though, maybe its beacuse we don't have a set routine.

(she usually doesn't get baths at night - she's more likely to get them in the morning)
