Successful induction following successful external version!
At 37w1d I had an external version performed on my breech baby at NSUH. It was quick and while painful so quick it didn't matter. The fact that I had had a successful vaginal birth previously to a large baby made me a Good candidate. I am so happy we decided to have the ECV. The baby was monitored via sono before, during and after and I felt she was safe the entire time.
My doctor offered me the option if an induction at 39w. He felt since my body was progressed, 1.5 cm and 60% effaced, it would be fairly easy. I opted to do the induction.
Pitocin started at 7 am. Pains got bad around 8 ish. Epi in by 900. 930 ish I was 4cm. A little after 10 am I had terrible pain. They checked me and were shocked that I had progressed from 4( at 9:30) to 10 cm by 10:30 lol
I was ready to roll but there were no rooms! Everyone decided to have their baby on the same day lol I got in the room around 11, at this point the pain was gone she was literally laying in my pelvis waiting to come out. Two pushes later my beautiful girl arrived. 7lb3oz 20in. Recovery is fine, some discomfort but not bad. First degree tear so a couple stiches.
I would highly recommend an induction if you are progressed on your own. It was nice not to have to deal w spontaneous labor and worrying about where to drop my son. Everything happened so quick that who knows if my husband would have made it home from work in time lol
