9 days of spotting (and counting) ... WTH?!
Anyone else have anything like this??
Ever since I had DD, my periods have been ridiculous (for months and months now). I have NUMEROUS days of spotting before I have a full red flow (sorry TMI). My gyn said to count the spotting as the beginning of AF, but *everything* I read states otherwise.
What's really frustrating is figuring out what day 1 of my cycle is, so I can figure out when to BD. My cycle, weirdly enough, is actually very consistent in that it's 27-28 days between spotting and also between red blood. I began temping the last few days to see if I can get a clearer idea of when I O (plus, keeping track of CM). Do you think I should use OPKs? I never used them before ... (I temped when TTCing #1).
It's just so frustrating, bc this seems so abnormal, but my doc doesn't seem to think so.

I just had this problem last month and eventually got AF. It's weird, but the doctor said it was "normal".

wait, are you guys also trying for #2 maybe we will be pregnant again together I also tend to get spotting before AF normally a couple days, i honestly dont count it as CD1 though (even thought my doctor also told me to), i wait till i get a day of real bleeding and count that as my CD1. They say when you have to where a tampon or use a pad, but i tend to start using a pad when i spot so i cant go by that . I would def use OPK, i find they are most accurate for me. Temping worked for us with #1 but I cant temp now b/c i dont sleep through the night, and I wake up several times, so i wont get a true temp good luck hon!!!

Yes, I guess we are. There, I said it! Any of you who know me IRL ... shhhhh. (We just started)
Ya know, I also have the issue of not sleeping through the night (very annoying, but I wake up frequently!!) -- so I don't even know if my temps are accurate!
As for OPKs ... how would I know to start using them when I don't even know what CD 1 is? My understanding is you pee on a stick every day until you get some sign that your levels are up? When would I start that?? Argh -- why can't this be easy?!
And how cool would it be if we were pg again together?!

Re: 9 days of spotting (and counting) ... WTH?!
with me, b/ c i am a late ovulator i dont start till CD16 or CD17.
In your case i would prob start CD10 or 11, since your said your are consistently b/t CD27 or CD28 when you start spotting/bleeding.
What i did was i went to the dollar store or dollar tree and bought their OPKs since they are only $1 each and i did it pretty much for a whole cycle starting from a couple days after I stopped bleeding/AF,to get an idea of when i O'd within a month time. I also purchased the OPK's that were a brand name so that when i got the + on the dollar store ones, i checked with the name brand ones too and sure enough I got a + on that too-so i knew I def O'd). With the brand name ones you only get 7 in a pack and they are costly but again i only used it once i got the + on the dollar store ones, just as a backup. The next month, when i saw i o'd around CD 21 the month before, i then started a week after my period and that cycle i O'd on CD24 (and got pregnant with DS). It was costly the 1st month or two but i was really able to get an idea of when i O'd. and now that we are TTC again i know I need to start OPK's later in my cycle so i dont have to waste money on too many of them. I hope this makes sense LOL. Also, if you dont have a dollar tree near you, i found target brand ones to be less $$ then the other brad names and also works well
