9 Month Vent...

My countdown says 17 days and it seems like an eternity away...

I am so uncomfortable, I don't know where to begin...

Working is so hard for me. I am a hs teacher, so knowing I have to be "live on stage" everyday just fills me with dread (I took off today...my FIFTH day this yearChat Icon ) If I go out on FMLA now, I lose those weeks with the baby, so I have to just push through, but it is so hard. The commute is about a 30 minute drive and just getting in and out of the car is painful.

Sleeping is non-exisitent. I am so tired, I could really cry...

My wardrobe situation is horrible. I have outgrown almost all of my maternity clothes and with only a little over 2 weeks left, I am not buying anymore. My feet are so swollen I can only wear this ugly pair of keds with zippers..I have to leave the zippers OPEN. Ugh. I feel like such a frump.

I gained 40 pounds this pregnancy and was always very slim and in shape. I hate looking at pictures of me now. I feel like my face is so fat. I wasn't allowed to work out since month 6 began and I also had to get steroid and progesterone shots, which added to the gain.

Dh hasn't even been that sympathetic or helpful. I think he is annoyed that I am so irritable. In fact, I know it...I overheard him saying to someone "she's cranky and irritable, so everything is normal..." I was like Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I don't want to scare the girls who are early in their pregnancies, but I just can't believe how miserable the 9th month is. To top it off, I show no signs of going early, so this can continue for 17+ days...

I just want to go into labor already...Chat Icon

I'm so sorry!!! I can't even imagine I am only 15 weeks and feel like I shouldnt have to work anymore!!! lol. My dh is a high school teacher so I hear how hard it is from him all the time. I just tell him to give them group projects that will take a lot of time so he doesnt have to teach!!! Chat Icon But I know its not that easy. Anyway I hope it happens for you sooner than you think!!!!

Re: 9 Month Vent...

My countdown says 4 days and I still feel like it is never going to happen. I have been dilating for almost a month and the doctor keeps telling me anyday now, but I dont feel like this baby wants to come out!

I stopped working 3 weeks ago and have been much happier since. I am able to rest (not sleep, cause that is impossible!), keep my feet up and swelling down. The only downfall is that I have had entirely too much time on my hands to think about all different things. I make myself anxious and crazy!

I have run out of clothes as well, but since I am not working it is not a big deal. I rotate the same few shirts and pants. At this point I am wearing whatever is comfortable and fits.

Try to hang in there. Chat Icon

I understand how you feel, I feel like I am whining or complaining all the time now. My body just hurts and I'm tired. Last night I had to really control myself not to just cry in bed because I was getting bad cramps and couldn't find a comfy position, I actually thought about taking Tylenol PM just to knock myself out. I didn't and somehow fell asleep.

I am so Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon doesn't come late.

I can relate. I had to buy larger shoes at 31 or 32 weeks b/c my feet didn't fit into any of my shoes. I've been wearing the larger black sneakers since then. I'm on bedrest which sucks. I wasn't happy about being taken out of work 1 month early, but in some ways, it's better to lie on the couch all day than be uncomfortable at work. My swelling has really been out of control. I haven't had an uninterrupted night of sleep since the beginning. It has only gotten worse b/c I'm pretty uncomfortable now. My carpal tunnel is awful. I don't have feeling in most of my fingers.

I hope you find relief soon. Chat Icon

Re: 9 Month Vent...

I know that you said that you didn't want to start your leave yet but what if you cut down your days. Even if you started to work 4 days instead of 5 days. That might take some of the pressure and pain off...

In any event, I am so sorry that you are going through this but I promise you that in 17 days or so it will all be worth it!

Maybe you could start reading up on those old wives tales on how to bring on early delivery!!

Best of luck to you! Chat Icon

Re: 9 Month Vent...

I totally remember that feeling, I was in your exact shoes last year (although I am not a teacher) I couldn’t sleep, I felt gross, I was huge from my 50 extra lbs, I had outgrown my clothes, the heartburn was horrible, his big body trying to move in my big belly was uncomfortable, it was horrible. I could barely fit behind the steering wheel (I too had a 30+ min commute and I worked until 12/17), I was annoyed at everyone every day for asking when I was going to have this baby (as if I was preventing him from being born). Overall, It stinks, it’s the worst part of pregnancy, for me it was so much worse than even m/s. Go to Target and buy a few inexpensive tops that fit and you will feel a little better. I went to my OB on Dec 17 and she said I had no progress, nothing and I just cried to the nurse and receptionist, I was heartbroken because I just felt like I couldn’t do this anymore!

This I will tell you, DS was delivered on his due date. The minute they pulled him out, I felt so much better, the heartburn ended, I could breathe again, even though I was still on the operating table I felt human again! (I think removing 10lbs of baby will do that to a woman) Looking at his little face, tiny hands, cute little lips, I would relive my 9th month 9times over just to have that moment of sheer awe when I saw/heard my DS for the first time. Now a year later, my DS is my soul mate, I love my DH but I couldn’t live without DS. He is walking and babbling and is just the sweetest most cuddly little man, I almost don’t remember how bad I felt a year ago!

Keep your eye “prize” your DC will be here soon enough and you will know how motherhood feels and you will “forget” how bad pregnancy can be/was!

Re: 9 Month Vent...

awwww I know. I'm terribly uncomfortable too. I am also a teacher, but I've been out on disability since September. Despite all the pain I'm in, I honestly don't know how teachers teach up until they deliver. I just feel so...heavy!!! And as you said, everything takes about 10 times the amount of effort.

Hang in there...it's coming!!!!! Chat Icon

Re: 9 Month Vent...

I am so sorry-- I could not imagine having to work under those conditions either... I know I am so lucky I am in the situation I am in now-- I don't know how I could do it if I was working full time and under my normal circumstances.

I think it's pretty normal to feel this way at the end, so don't be so down on yourself. I know it's hard, but try to make the best of it-- maybe spend an afternoon this weekend going through your clothes and figuring out some outfits that don't make you feel like a frump ball.

I am sorry your DH is not sympathetic. Is there someone that can talk to him for you? Sounds like he needs to really change his attitude. I don't expect all partners to fawn all over their pregos, but at this stage of the game he should be your man servant-- granting every wish and desire, and kissing your arse!!!

awwwww sweetie, tons of Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon for you!!

would an honest vent to your DH help a little maybe? perhaps he could make an extra effort to help you around...just sit him down and "scare" him into thinking you're going to tell him something serious and open up to him...hehehe a little evil i know, but when i want to get something serious across to my DH i have to lay it on him hardcore or else he just blows me off...maybe having his extra support will be beneficial to you during this last stretch...i dunno like massages, or nice "final" evenings just the two of you...either way, i hope that you find some comfort!!! Re: 9 Month Vent...

Thank you all for your hugs and support...I am feeling a little bit better. I gave in and bought a couple of new tops from the gap--express delivery. DH called to ask if I needed anything and that he is "here" for me. Everyone at work thinks I went into labor and I am like "I WISH!!!"

I tried to keep busy with baby things today, as I still have a lot to do around here. I put together the clothes tree from Land of Nod (so cute) and attempted to assemble the Diaper Genie (not so cute...)

I am going to engage in a little retail therapy for the nursery...maybe buy a Moses Basket, some hooks for the wall...

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I know how you feel. I am so uncomfortable I can't take it anymore. My Dh said last night that "we all know your tired, do you have to be miserable too." If looks could kill, does he really know how tired I am! I have 25 days left, work full time and have a 3.5 yo and a 23 month old. He is great helping care for the girls, but he needs some work taking care of mom! As uncomfortable as I am and as much as I can't wait to meet the baby, I hope he sits tight until after Christams. Santa needs to finish shopping for his sisters!

Feel better!

It's rough at the end. I delivered 19 days early - the weekend of Thanksgiving and I was debating whether or not i was going to stop going in to work anymore at that point. The baby made the decision for me. Chat Icon
