Morgan Stanley plans to block unvaccinated employees and guests from entering its New York offices
Posting because I know we have talked about employers and possible vaccine mandates.
Key points:
-Morgan Stanley will require a COVID-19 vaccine for entry at its NY offices, Financial Times said.
-Once the policy goes into effect July 12, all unvaccinated employees will lose building access.
-The bank has already implemented "vaccine-only" work areas, FT reported.

Re: Morgan Stanley plans to block unvaccinated employees and guests from entering its New York offices
I am vaccinated. Just want to be sure to say that first.
THIS IS BS. I’m sorry to those who don’t agree. You can still get and spread Covid while vaccinated. Those who are not vaccinated are supposedly the ones taking a bigger health risk. Not allowing them in the building is absolutely gross. Though it may not be the worst to be able to still work from home while others have to be around people again lol

Re: Morgan Stanley plans to block unvaccinated employees and guests from entering its New York offices
This is very scary to me and should be to everyone. This is America. Not sure when we all became ok with this. What happened to “my body my choice.” Where there is risk there must always be choice and no one can say there is no risk here. It’s clearly a political/business move as less people are choosing to get vaccinated. Who knows what their motivation is. Like Phyllis said I don’t think we can really assume it’s for the best interest of their employees. This is a slippery slope. I guess next will be the kids even though some countries have halted vaccinating kids with the heart injuries and deaths that have occurred. Where there is risk there must be choice. And if the vaccine works so well the vaccinated shouldn’t be afraid of the unvaccinated.

Re: Morgan Stanley plans to block unvaccinated employees and guests from entering its New York offices
Putting employees aside- they are doing this to clients? Clients who invest millions upon millions of dollars with them? Clients who can take their money elsewhere? LMAO And what are they scared of? They are forcing employees to be vaccinated to come into the office so if a dirty unvaccinated client comes in won't everyone who works there be safe? Makes no sense.
In addition- the market for jobs is HOT right now. We have 98 open spots at my company that we are having a HELL of time filling. And we wont' require vaccinations. If any Morgan Stanley employees don't feel like being vaccinated I am sure there are plenty of places who will be GLAD to take them

Clients too, yes.
Pretty bold move. But I’m hearing more and more that large entities like this are following suit.
“Employees, staff, clients and visitors will be required to attest to being full vaccinated in order to enter NYC, Westchester offices.”
I wonder if part of it is for liability reasons?

Attest? So is that like are you vaccinated yes or no? No proof required? Is this more a CYA move where they won't be asking for proof? Honestly though- they should be careful with their clients. Plenty of other places to invest with

It says they’d have to stay remote.
As far as what vetting means - I think employees need to show proof of vaccination. Not sure about visitors.

Morgan Stanley plans to block unvaccinated employees and guests from entering its New York offices
From another article: Goldman Sachs said its employees in the United States would have to report their vaccination status. Other big Wall Street banks, including JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America, are encouraging workers to disclose their vaccination status voluntarily.

I work for a smaller company but we were asked to disclose our vaccination status and show our vaccine card if we were vaccinated. It kind of caught me off guard as I wasn't expecting that.

Voluntarily? What are they even doing with that info? If it's mandatory to go to the office, I get it. But if its up to you whether to disclose or not, and if you are free to say I'm not vaccinated, with no consequence , what's the end goal there?

I am not sure. They said they aren't making us get vaccinated.
I disclosed because vaccinated people don't need to wear masks anymore in the building. But I didn't realize we were going to be asked to disclose.

Re: Morgan Stanley plans to block unvaccinated employees and guests from entering its New York offices
Sad. I am sure they will lose business and people that don’t want to be remote will find other jobs. Let’s see how long this lasts as it seems companies are trying this and then realize they will lose money and change their stance.

Yes - they asked us to show our card. The Empire Passport wasn't sufficient. I don't know how they can monitor in the office but we have to check in each morning and it's noted.
I only go in 1x a week though and I'm hoping it stays that way for awhile.

It does sound like the law is on the employers side - the EEOC said they can mandate vaccines.
I wonder if polls were used to decide at MS. Some companies did surveys to see if employees would want vaccines mandated.

This is a completely false analogy. You can't spread pregnancy. No one can catch it from you. Just like you can't smoke in public - because you can/will harm others - it is not your choice when you could cause illness to others

So why are no other vaccines mandatory in the work place as well as the flu shot?

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that all kinds of marketing research went into this decision.

Re: Morgan Stanley plans to block unvaccinated employees and guests from entering its New York offices
I wonder if it’s just temporary cause at the end of the article it says they didn’t say how long it will stay in effect for.
Are there still rules they are required to follow from NYS and this is why they are implementing it? I can’t keep up anymore.
My mom‘s office is opening back up in July and unless you’re vaccinated you have to be masked. They want everyone back in offices at least 3 times a Week.
I wonder how many people actually care and would rather just work from home. I have heard and read that people rather just work from home because it makes life easier for them. I also read how one company (can’t remember which one) is mandating employees to come in to the office. They said If they want to be paid NYC salaries then they need to be living in NY

Agree. It’s also still a choice. They’re not going to shoot you if you don’t get vaccinated, they just won’t let you in the building.
At the end of the day, whether or not you agree, private companies can set whatever rules they like.

No other illness has caused a P A N D E M I C - a GLOBAL health crisis that has killed MILLIONS pf people around the world in a relatively very short time

I don’t work in the city but haven’t gotten a date to go back yet either and perfectly fine with it. I like having a choice of what to wear and being able to get housework done during the day. I actually work harder at home as I can go on at anytime of the day and do work. Which is bad as sometimes I am chugging along at night when I should be relaxing.
