Covid at home test kits
I know - there are posts everywhere on FB looking for them!
The lines for testing are ridiculous. I thankfully got DS 2 into his ped since his nose was really runny this am - he has a cold (they do rapid PCR).

So crazy as I wouldn't trust those. We are not allowed to use them for work.

Re: Covid at home test kits
Funny how the news can manipulate the world. The media caused the toilet paper shortage. The media will have people panic buying milk and bread for snowstorms. And now this. And not just rational media- social media too. Many people thrive on chaos and stress.
And I'm sitting here eating my Christmas cookies and thinking about my dinner out tonight like
I sneezed 2 times this morning too. I believe it was from the musty sweater I pulled out of the back of the closet- that always affects me. But yeah let me start running around like chicken little to get a home covid test that isn't even accurate so I can post about it on Tik Tok

Wow. So glad my parents are not like that- we are going there for Christmas. Didn't test to go there last year when vaccines weren't even available yet. I have zero time to be running around looking for tests- that by the way aren't even all that accurate. But like everything else- false sense of security makes people fell mentally better I guess. They should make you test for flu too And stomach bug I got a nasty ass stomach bug one year at our Christmas gathering.

Agreed.
I also just had my antibody test from Tuesday come back. Still >2,500. Tests don’t go higher. But if it makes them feel better, I’ll do it.

Covid at home test kits
My sister is making everyone test beforehand. She got tests for everyone and dropped them off at their houses. Test right before you leave to come. If positive, stay home. No one has a problem doing it especially because she did all the leg work.

I wonder how they'd work if you peed on them like a pregnancy test....

Re: Covid at home test kits
We had some tests kits from a while back that we never used. For DS's trip with friends, one of the moms suggested for them to have the PCR. Our doctor doesn't do it without symptoms, lines are crazy to have one and, anyways, results are getting back in 6 days, which at the moment results are not even accurate. So for that reason, I'm glad we have the home test kits because that's the one we'll be using.

Covid at home test kits
Westchester county distributed them to individual municipalities and there has been dramaz all day about the village vs the town and who is eligible for their 3 tests at which train parking lot and I’m so sorry I ever insulted Nassau county when I lived there because holy hell am I in the looney bin now.

Re: Covid at home test kits
Meanwhile in Brooklyn... The city decided to hand out free tests. Look at all the safe social distancing!! But better to be packed in tight in a crowd who all potentially have Covid than to stay home when sick and not know whether or not you have it. The nonsense just keeps getting better and better!

Omg this is the stupidest thing.
I just read that Oprah made anyone coming to her home be vaccinated with a booster, tested and quarantined before coming. SMH

Well she thinks she's God so that would make sense. Did they have to wear hazmat suits as well? I feel like people just try to out do each other with how much more "socially conscious" they can be than the next person. It's getting old. We have multiple vaccines now. It's not Ebola. It's like there is suddenly zero tolerance for ever being sick with anything. We'll have zero immune systems by the time this is done because nobody is allowed to ever get sick. People have lost their minds. That's the real pandemic here

Yup it is and god forbid if you are not scared. Or scared enough according to them.

Covid at home test kits
Testing beforehand is not ridiculous. My brother in law did the rapid yesterday and it was positive. He had no symptoms and would’ve otherwise went to Christmas Eve dinner with my family. By 8 pm he was symptomatic - congested with a headache. I’m glad my sister made everyone test beforehand.

Standing in a crowd pushing and shoving with possibly Covid positive people to get a home test as the picture depicts is, in fact, ridiculous

I don’t know how accessible tests are where you live, but they are very hard to come by here and result in situations where people are huddled together, on hours long lines to either get at home tests or be tested. I agree testing beforehand is smart IF everyone has access to a test. I wouldn’t want my family members in line for hours on end with strangers to test.

My extended family that I’m referring to lives in central Nassau. My sister was able to get at home tests for everyone this week. I was able to get at home tests through my health insurance. I ordered them on Monday and they were at my house Wednesday.
