A couple of advanced questions (in prep for our summer cruise)
So, DS just turned 2 and we are taking a family cruise in July. Now, I know we have some prep to do for it so any tips or advice on the below would be soo helpful!!
1. potty training. No tips or advice, but we will begin the next weeks as DS is giving us signs
2. showers...since the cruise only has a shower stall, DS is a bath lover. I tried once to give him a shower and he FREAKED OUT!! How can I get him ok with showers?
3. crib. We could bring the PNP but DS can get out of it and the room is too small. Plus, we have a toddler bed ready for DS, but I don't want to rush him out of the crib. He hasn't made attempts to get out of it yet. What do you guys think?
4. high chair vs. booster seat. DS uses a booster seat at our house but freaks at resturants and still wants "my chair" aka a high chair. What do you think?

Maybe for the shower you can get him a bath visor (like the ones in BRU) to keep the water off his face ? I cant recall from my cruises if the nozzle was a detaching type ...I'd try to break him into that now maybe if you can...
Would you be opposed to have him sleeping with you on the cruise? My DS was 9 months when we went and he barely made it in the cruise crib so that where he ended up -with us ...
They have had hi-chairs on the cruises we have been on...Worse comes to worse, would he eat in his stroller ? Maybe with it being a new environment he will sit in whatever they have for him?
Have fun !

Re: A couple of advanced questions (in prep for our summer cruise)
thanks! Maybe I'll try the visor.
100% against him in our bed (JMO, I'm really against that anywhere). The room has the couch that pulls out as the bed for him and its low to the ground. That is what ideally I'd like him to sleep in especially since he'll be 2.5 years old.
Thanks!

Oh definately if the couch pulls out definately try that!
I have rolled up sheets and stuck them under the fitted sheet to act as a mock bedrail and put cushions on the floor in hotel rooms

Ugh.....so tough to travel with little people, isn't it!
Only advice I can give is that when we went on a cruise when DD was 7 months old, we brought an inflatable tub with us and used that. We had a room with a balcony, so we would give her the baths on the balcony.
Also, most cruise ships offer pack n plays, so you wouldn't need to bring your own.

Re: A couple of advanced questions (in prep for our summer cruise)
We went on a cruise a yr ago when DD #1 was 2 1/2 and DD #2 was 1.
At that time my 2 1/2 yr old was taking showers with me so it was easy with her, but my 1 yr old wasn't. I bought one of those blow up ducks and brought it with me. It fit fine in the shower and because space is limited I would just put it on the balcony when I was done giving her a bath.
As far as sleeping, we had a pack and play that the cruise provided for DD #2 and DD #1 slept on the pull out couch. The couch when pulled out was pretty much the same height as our bed and right up against it. We just rolled up a sheet and placed it under the covers on the other side so it was like a little wall.
When eating, DD #1 liked to just sit in a regular chair when at breakfast or eating in the main dining room(the chairs were bigger, with a high back) and if we ate at the buffet we sat in a booth. But, they do have highchairs that we used for DD #2.

Re: A couple of advanced questions (in prep for our summer cruise)
We had a bathtub but other people we talked to brought those inflatable tubs and used it in the bottom of the shower.
They also have booster seats on the cruise ships along with highchairs. DS used a booster at dinner.
I def wouldn't worry about potty training unless this is something you planned on already doing.
As far as sleeping, we had portable cribs on our ship not a PNP. It worked out great!!
This time we are bringing our travel cots for the kids. They fold up small so they are not in the way.
