A Duggar is engaged...
Make way for a Duggar-sized wedding.
The famously expansive Duggar clan, stars of TLC's hit reality show 19 Kids & Counting will be adding a new son-in-law to their crew in the next few months.
Jill Duggar, 22, who is studying to be a midwife, recently revealed her courtship with Derick Dillard, 25, an accountant in Rogers, Ark. Now, she tells PEOPLE exclusively, the two are engaged to be married.
"I am so happy," says Jill. "Our story is so very unique. The first time we talked, he was in Japan, we met in Nepal, he spent time in India and Israel and then came back to Arkansas where he met my family. We have a very international story even though we live so close."
Jill and her younger sister Jessa, 21 – who is in a courtship with Ben Seewald, 18, of Hot Spring, Ark. – have shared the differences between dating and courting with millions of viewers. The girls, along with their sisters Jana, 24 and Jinger, 20, also explain those differences in their new book Growing Up Duggar, released earlier this year. Once the couple became engaged, they agreed that they would hold hands – a physical contact they decided to hold off until engagement. They will share their first kiss on their wedding day.
"I feel like I'm dreaming," Derick tells PEOPLE of his engagement to Jill. "It was great to grab her hand for the first time."

I know! I watched the Josh & Anna special when they got married. No sort of physical contact; all their dates are chaperoned!! They were like little kids on the special constantly kissing since they could never do it before!

I gotta admit, I love the duggar kids. They all seem like great kids on that show...But no hand holding till your engaged! ?? Im really not familiar with what the bible says, but are you really not supposed to hold hands till engaged? This seems very extreme.

I like the Duggar kids. Despite being on national tv, they are true to their values and remain humble. I admire her for studying to be a midwife. I'm sure she was inspired by her mother's many births.
No doubt the hand holding phase will go quickly, those conservative folk seem to have lightning fast engagement periods!

They couldn't or wouldn't hold hands until they got engaged??? Is this part of their religion, whatever it is? I never watched their show, but I just don't get it.

They decided not to. I remember Anna and Josh held hands and hugged while dating I believe.
I like them and I agree I want to raise my kids like this too

I honestly find this so refreshing in our completely over-sexed society... I would love to have my children wait for marriage, part of me wishes I had waited longer than I did.

I love this show. I don't know why! I'm so happy to see these girls moving on with their lives. They have some seriously beautiful children! I honestly would never want to raise my kids this way, but more power to them.

I think the hand holding and no kissing thing is crazy ! Can you imagine marrying your Dh without any meaningful physical contact ? I am really surprised so many people on here want to raise their kids like that. It sounds so repressive and contrary to human nature.

ITA!! Everything is soooo over-sexualized nowadays. While it seems odd to us "mainstreamers", for them this is how they were raised and what they believe in so it is c
completely normal.
I had my daughter young (I was 2 months shy of turning 20) and I always say that I love her with all of my heart and soul and I would never do anything to change that I have her but I wish I waited longer. I can only hope that she realizes and learns from me.
