A friend of mine I met in a Mom's group is getting a divorce...
I met her in a Moms group here in NJ in October. We really hit it off and we had her and her baby (who is exactly one month youhger than Maddie) and her husband over several times. I called her last night and she told me her and her husband are getting a divorce! She's had one foot out the door for awhile, but the icing on the cake is that she found some dirty text messages on his phone and found out he is having an affair with a woman at work
Anyway...she actually seems relieved to be getting out of the marriage. I would like to do something nice for her and was wondering if anyone has any ideas on a nice gift I could send her? She has been married 6 years and her daughter is only 8 months old

awww, that stinks for her but sounds like she is comfortable with the decision so that's good.
I'm not sure about a gift but maybe you can offer to take her out to lunch or dinner or something and give her a chance to talk. I have to imagine that right now she probably needs to know that she has supportive people behind her which makes the prospect of starting anew a little easier.
But if you want to do a gift maybe a spa certificate or mani/pedi and you can watch her DD while she goes?

I think just letting her know you are there for her right now is plenty. Maybe offer babysitting if she just needs some time alone?

That's sad. But at least she's made that very tough decision.
How about offering to babysit her DD while she does something for herself, like go to the spa to relax or something (you could even get a g.c. for the spa too if you wanted)?
If not, I'd say flowers always cheer most women up.

It's so nice of you to do something for her. Divorce is so hard. When I went through it, my saving grace was friends just getting me out of the house for shopping or whatever.
You seem like such a nice friend

That is so awful. Some men are scum.
I think a nice mani/ped/spa would be such a great thing to do for her - very sweet of you!

I agree. Maybe treat her to a nice lunch one day.

I would do babysitting & a spa.
When my close friend was getting a divorce what she needed most was time to herself, time to go to the lawyer & later on time to go on dates. Babysitting was a godsend to her.
