Tips for Not Being a Frumpy Mom?

Even though I am 10 months PP I often feel like a frumpy mom.

Sweatpants and Uggs no make-up--its starting to take a toll on me. Even when I go to work I dont dress cute like I used to. Part of it is that I still have 15 lbs to lose.

BTW--DS looks perfect for daycare everyday

How can I get out of this funk??? Today I tried to look cute and I actually feel a wee bit better

I always thought I'd be a stylish, cute mom--is there such a thing? I am just so frazzled!!!Chat Icon

I am totally right there with you. I was never like this in the past. I usually made sure I got right back into the whole clothes, hair, make up thing. I just dont care any more....I was looking at some pictures of myself the other day and I was shocked at how far Ive let myself go...

Here's what Ive vowed to do..

Im going to put a couple of old pictures of me around the house as insentive!!!!

Throw out (or give to goodwill) my cr@ppy sweats, mom jeans, stained t-shirts etc..

Do a 5 minute face even if Im not going any where!!!! Get out of the no makeup rut!!!

OH I thought You had tips on how not to be a frumpy momChat Icon
I Know what you mean, When I do excersise it makes me feel better. And when I do get dressed (not just sweat pants and a tee shirt) and put make up on it still makes me feel a little better :)
My Wonderful DH siad to me the other day why dont you get your self some new pants and stuff so you dont look so frumpy OH gee thanks for making me feel better :)
I dont want to get pants that are a size up from what I used to wear :(

For me, as soon as I got home from the hospital, I picked up where I left off with my routine. I never wore another piece of maternity clothing after DS was born either. I got up and got myself ready first thing in the morning. If you like wearing sweats (like me), they have so many selections that are fashionable and not sloppy looking. There is a difference between wearing sweats and wearing sweats that still look fashionable, KWIM? Continue to get pedi/mani's and getting your hair done.

When I returned to work, I felt my BEST because I was dressing business casual~ Doing my hair, putting on make-up and getting dressed makes me feel good about myself. When I don't, I feel frumpy.

I remember seeing some pictures of you, your beautiful and I can't imagine you looking like a frumpy mom!!Chat Icon

I would say you have to step away from the sweatpants! Chat Icon Even try fitted yoga pants--that little change to me makes a big difference. Also, do your makeup and hair everyday--at least a bit. I just resumed my bi-weekly pedicures and that makes me feel a lot better! The ultimate best thing I did though, was to rejoin WW. I lost my extra 15 lbs and I'm loving life! You can DO IT!!!

Re: Tips for Not Being a Frumpy Mom?

OMG you must have been reading my mind this morning Chat Icon pms is not helping today. My makeup routine most days consists of slapping on some blush and lipstick on the subway ride to work. i REALLY need a haircut, mani/pedi, wax etc. I am 5 months pp, still need to lose at least 30lbs and hate shopping for me - so i dont Chat Icon

DH bought me a spa day after DD was born and i havent used it yet because i feel like whats the point - i'll still feel fat/ugly/frumpy

exercise helps but i'm finding it really hard to find time to fit in a workout more than 1-2x per week (if that) and thats just not enough. hopefully now that the weather is warmer we can walk around with the stroller more on days off.

sorry to ramble Chat Icon

Re: Tips for Not Being a Frumpy Mom?

I always, always, always feel frumpy if I'm in sweats all day. But I have a few nice outfits that don't make me look frumpy. I always do my makeup and hair. That's a must. If that's done, then I feel so much better.

Don't worry about the extra weight gain...the warmer weather is coming and it's a perfect opportunity to get out and walk!!

I completely agree on every point- including the WWers (if necessary).

This isn't to say I'm not frumpy though. Everyone has those days!

Re: Tips for Not Being a Frumpy Mom?

I just joined WW again to drop my remaining 10-15 lbs.

I also insist on putting make up on and at least pulling myself together to look decent everyday, now matter where we're going. It depresses me when I look like crap even if I don't see anyone else!

I also go for regular haircuts, etc and keep up with my rootsChat Icon

I found NY & co to have cute casual comfy clothes - yoga pants and such are great for when you're lounging around the house but still want to be comfy.

Hey thats where I need to be...and well Im 3pds away..so you can do it.

I also work in business casual enviroment but I tend to dress it up a bit so I feel better and somewhat pretty.

I wear makeup, do the hair and with some help...dieting!
I try to hit the gym for some cardio and its really only 2x a wk but it helps.

I had to buy bigger clothes, since I wasnt fitting in my pre preggo clothes but I am noticing now how they are getting big....and that is motiviation!
