A lesson learned...
We always ask about guidelines and what is the right and wrong way to do things but yesterday I learned a valuable lesson. I was a past nanny and a current social worker. I nannyed for a family that is so close to my heart. They were even in my wedding party. I got a phone call that the father (42) passed of a heart attack. The mother is my age (30). He left behind 3 children ages 5, 7, 9. the oldest is devestated and the younger 2 dont understand. Whenever I was with them they always lived the somewhat "fast" life meaning always going away, always giving the kids everything and just not listening to all the rules. I have to say for the first time yesterday I realized that its not always about what the "right" thing to do but rather having your children enjoy life. So from this day forward I will take from this man the need and desire to give Gillian everything, if she wants to sleep with me thats fine, if she wants an extra bottle that is fine too. What is important is that your children know that you love and care for them. Everything falls into place. I will now live life like it is my last day because I want my daughter to appreciate all that life has to offer.

How sad, I'm so sorry for your loss.
I totally agree with you - life is way too short not to live for the moment.

It's true, it really is. Lately, I don't know why, but I have this growing fear that something will happen to me and will miss Alex growing up, and she will miss having a mommy. I think about it everyday, and try to have the most meaningful playtime with her at home with that in the back of my head
I'm so sorry for the family's loss

Re: A lesson learned...
Sorry for your loss. I agree as well. I learned that lesson a couple years ago. A very dear friend of mine from college was killed by a drunk driver. He had so much ahead of him, a wonderful girlfriend, loving family, so many friends, everything one could ask for and it was taken away so quickly by some immature teen ager (don't get me started on that). So I vowed from that day on to live life to the fullest each and every day because you never now what tomorrow will bring.

I have had this fear also since the day Lily was born. Maybe my scary childbirth experience explains it.
I am very sorry for your loss.
