A little brag - Joey (my horse) competed in his first show (with pictures)
I know there aren't too many horse people here, but I thought I'd share this anyway. One of my horses went in his very first dressage show last weekend. I just put him in the show to give him the experience and to get comments from the judge. I didn't expect much at all, as he's still green.
Well, imagine how shocked I was that he took first place in both of his classes!!  On top of that, he won the award for the high score of the day!
He actually did so well, he won two gift certificates to the local tack store (one for each blue ribbon) AND a Tiffany bowl for having the high score! 
Here he is before the show, early in the morning with his blanket still on. This was his first time ever having his mane braided. He looked so handsome!
Here he is showing how he feels about all the fuss before the show. He's wearing a cooler to keep him warm - it was cold and windy that day!

Luckily, he got LOTS of carrots since he wasn't impressed with the ribbons!
I did not get any still photos of his actual dressage tests, but my DH took videos of them. I emailed the show photographer to send me proofs of my horse from the show. He emailed me back to say he didn't take any photos of him! 
I honestly never expected him to go home with 2 blue ribbons AND the high score award. I'm so proud of him - he's such a good boy and tries so hard.

He is a very handsome boy, congratulations!!
I'm not a 'horse person' but I love seeing pictures and learning about them. My sister had a horse long ago and I really loved riding and taking care of him.

Awesome!! Congrats!! Was the show at Knoll? I was at Country Farms last weekend for an IHSA show and apparently they are putting in a huge, lighted arena with "state of the art" footing and they are going to be doing more dressage shows there! Congrats!

No, the Knoll show was the weekend before that. Knoll shows are over for the year. Stanhope took over the Sunshine Acres dressage show dates this year. It's possible they will not do those shows again next year, in which case Knoll will probably pick them up. If no one picks them up, then there really won't be enough shows on LI to qualify for regionals. :( We'll have to show off LI to qualify -- or else we'd have to get qualifying scores at every, single LI show...

He is beautiful. When I was a little girl I always wished on a star that I'd get a pony!
The block that I live on has so many houses with stables it's so weird to have it in my neighborhood but they're every where.
Congrats. He is gorgeous.
