a little TMI but a question for those who had episiotomies or tearing..
I had a 2nd degree tear and was wondering for those who did too.....
How long until you felt completely normal? How long until sex wasn't uncomfortable?
TIA
obviously I will be speaking to my gyn too.....

I distinctly remember that Day 6 was the turning point for the pain and uncomfortableness.
Didn't really effect sex.

I had a 2nd degree tear, and I felt sore for a while. I would say it was at least 6 weeks until I was completely pain free. I can't answer the sex question yet . Poor Dh on that one. My DD is almost 15 weeks old and I have yet to try. I worry that it will be painful, but at this point is shouldn't be.

I had a 1st degree tear, it was pretty painful.. It took a long time to heal. It did sometimes hurt if i widened my legs to far.. With sex, that took a while, kinda makes you feel like your a virgin again. Not to worry it does get better it just takes time. What helped me the most was the water bottle the hospital gave me to spray down there.. I used that everytime I went to the bathroom (warm water) and it helped tremendously..
Feel better.

Re: a little TMI but a question for those who had episiotomies or tearing..
I had an episiotomy, and I was not told what degree, but the doctor was stiching away for awhile. When I go to my 6 week, I have to ask more about this.
Anyway, it stopped being painful after about 2 weeks, but I still had bleeding and swelling for another week plus, now at 4 weeks things finally feel almost normal in that area, but I have not tried sex.

Re: a little TMI but a question for those who had episiotomies or tearing..
I had a 3rd degree tear in addition to an episiotomy. The first 2wks of pp were awful. By 5-6wks I started feeling "normal" again. DH and I did the deed at 7wks and it was not so pleasant for me but I think a lot was psychological because I was so tensed up thinking about it. It took a few months but all eventually returned to normal.

Re: a little TMI but a question for those who had episiotomies or tearing..
I had a 2nd degree tear and I would say within 2 weeks I started to feel better. Sex was never a problem but then again I was on pelvic rest my entire pregnancy so when it was time to do it I didn't even think about pain. You could have thrown 20lb bricks at my head and I wouldn't have cared.
