A little worried (black in stool??)
Sorry if this is TMI..but i'm a little concerned about DDs poop. She woke back up around 10:15 after going back to sleep with a bottle at 9am.. She usually sleeps later so i figured she must need a diaper change. Yesterday morning we had a bit of an explosive poop which woke her up ..so i thought uh oh and changed her. Luckily this time she only had a tiny bit of poop. but then i noticed It was slightly more watery and i noticed black spots and a few spots that looked a little like mucous maybe (same color as the poop though). i know i was always told that black meant blood so it's freaking me out a little.
Her 4mos appt is next wed.. and i plan on putting a call in to her Ped. just to put my mind at ease. but the office sometimes takes awhile to get back to us. (there's a bunch of doctors and so they take a message and get back to you in order of priority..etc.). So i guess i was hoping to see if anyone had any ideas on what it could be? Should i be more concerned?? TIA
Btw: she's only on formula and breastmilk. no solids yet or i'd probably chalk the color up to something she ate.

Re: A little worried (black in stool??)
black usually meant internal blood that has been digested so its not coming form the rectum..I would get to the dr ASAP and save a sample.

Re: A little worried (black in stool??)
dark red blood could look blackish because it is old blood. Maybe she is having an allergy to her formula, or what did she eat? Spinach always made my kids' poop DARK green/blackish (sorry can;t remember what age you said and if she is even eating foods yet). I would say allergy because it causes dark stools and mucous How is she acting?

Re: A little worried (black in stool??)
I just put in the call to the peds office. She said the nurse will get back to me..but they have a few calls ahead so she's not sure when. UGHH!
I saved her diaper just in case. She is still only on formula and breastmilk. She hasn't had any problems with either so far.. so i don't think it's what she ate. I guess that's why i was even more concerned. She seems to be her happy self. She was a little fussy after..but i feel like that could be more related to her not getting enough sleep.
The problem with my peds office is that they are terrible with walk ins. They're in the hospital.. and they are great. But Anytime you go there as a walk in ..they tend to send you to the pediatric ER. I get that they are busy and that the ER is only 2 blocks away...but this is a huge pet peeve of mine with them..so i'm worried that this is what'll happen if i run there with her.
