A new addition to our family and a BF ques.
My DD was born on Thurs. (we were in te NICU for 2 days b/c of a fever during labor) But thankfully we got to take our son's beautiful baby sister home on Saturday. Alessia Rose!
I have a BF question...I've been Bfing and supplementing with formula from time to time. I also pump and as you could imagine my breasts feel as if they're punching bags...but...
Do supplement with formula if you BF, if so how much....and Do you wake your Lo up for feedings??
TIA!

Re: A new addition to our family and a BF ques.
My DD is 6 weeks old. I am starting to supplement formula, maybe only a bottle or two a day. When i first got her home I was EBF, and yes I set my alarm in the night to feed her. After her two week appointment the dr. saw she was gaining good weight and said I didnt need to wake her and was only feeding on demand.

Re: A new addition to our family and a BF ques.
Congrats!!!!
I supplemented in the first 5 days, with one or sometimes 2- 2oz bottles of formula bc my milk was taking forever and a day to come in.
Once my supply was there (at about 5 days) i did not need to supplement anymore, as I was producing more than enough.
I never woke my DD to wat, but I honestly never had to bc she would get up to eat every 2-3 hours like clockwork
If she was going for like 6 hour stretches though I might have been tempted to wake her. As long as your child is gaining weight and seems content hunger wise, then just go with the flow and GL!

Congrats!! I absolutely love her name
I was EBF in the very beginning, and now I occasionally supplement - I would say about one bottle a day. I never woke DD for a feeding because she gained back the weight she lost from birth very quickly.
Good luck!

Congratulations!!
While BF both my DDs I always supplemented only one bottle of formula a day--at a time that was convenient for me or simply when the cluster feedings were driving me insane! During the 1st few weeks, I would think you would not want to supplement more than a few ounces or so. Any more than that and your supply may suffer.

Congrats! And beautiful name!
I didn't supplement with formula at all. Babies don't need as much milk as you think when they are first born. I did have to wake DD up initially because she was a sleepy little thing. She never woke up out of hunger. Usually I'm a believer of "never wake a sleeping baby" but because she also had jaundice, I had to wake her to eat.
