A new life for a non-returnable can of paint? Neutral color?

I bought a can of paint for our new bathroom in semi-gloss and found out this morning from the contractor that it needed to be satinChat Icon I am an idiot for relying on the paint store guy and not checking.
Now I am stuck with a gallon of $50 paint! Should I sell it on craigslist or is that dumb? Chat Icon

save it for a bedroom make-over?
donate it to habitat for humanity - I think they have a re-sale store in the ronkonkoma area.

Why should it make a difference if it is semi-gloss or satin ? It's just a finish not a type of paint (oil vs. water based)

You could always use it to paint the inside of closets.

I would bring it back to the store to see if they can give you a discount on a new can of paint. Some stores have a returned paint can section.

Can I ask why it needs to be satin? I did my bathroom in semi. I'm curious as to the contractor's reasoning

My parents were just in the same situation. They were told it had to do with the way light would reflect off of it since it was a small space.

In their case though, they also changed colors.

I think they are painting the basement staircase with the old one.

You can also paint the inside of drawers if they are stained or the inside back panel of book cases if you want a new look.

Thanks everyone. We have a really old house and we live in LA so all our houses have many cracks in the plaster due to earthquakes. He said it would show EVERY crack and look awful Chat Icon I am so bummed but I think I will donate it to Habit for Humanity. We have a location nearby. I like that ideaChat Icon

Thanks for the idea- I emailed the local store to ask how I would go about donating it. Its a really nice neutral tan so they definately could use it in a new home. I feel MUCH better now about my mistake. Chat Icon
