a parent is driving me up the wall!!!!
I get a voicemail message or a note from her every other day!!!
Todays she wrote an excuse note for her daughter's homework packet on a homework pass that I have not given out since Decemberfor the entire week's homework because they "lost" it. Meanwhile the daughter said she didnt do 2 pages so she couldnt turn it in. So Mom called to tell me she was dissapointed that I gave her daughter detention for not turning in her HW and that noone called her since a behavior meeting last week to report on how the girl is doing and where is the paperwork that was promised to her on Friday.
That was the sped teacher's job and she told me that she left them at home after working on them all weekend. Can't these parents give us a break!!!!

I have a parent like that in my class too. She writes notes for her son all the time for not having his hw. In the meantime, he's not learning responsibility at all and he's going to be 14 soon

Sounds like a parent I dealt with today. They make every excuse for their child and are such enablers. There is no accountability anymore  Sorry you are dealing with this.

Thanks for empathizing- I just needed to vent because I try really hard to not let it impact how I treat the child

Oh and she is certifiable! The Spec Ed teacher told me she came into her room, closed the door behind her and said in a menacing tone " I am going to beat you up- you did not do what you promised me"
The principal told the teacher to file a formal complaint or something along those lines. I said she should call the police but supposedly the mom came back and said " I was just teasing you"

ITA with this. Responsibility is no longer a trait that is taught at home, for many kids.
Do you know that I once had a parent pull his child not only out of my class, but out of the SCHOOL, because I told him to keep his coat on during recess (it was about 45 degrees outside that day), and he decided to take if off anyway, so I gave him silent lunch? The parent's argument was, "My son is 10 years old and is old enough to tell whether he is hot or cold, and he doesn't have to listen to what his teacher or anyone else says when this is the case".
Ok, psycho. Good riddance. The rest of our year was a piece of cake after he left!!
