A question...when you have your IUI or transfer...
is DH in the room with you? I am having my first IUI this week, and am thinking that I really dont want to have DH in the room with me during the process. He would absolutely be in there to support me if I needed it, but I dont feel like I do, and I think it would make him uncomfortable. Anyone else have similar feelings?

Re: A question...when you have your IUI or transfer...
It depends on the dr. I'm not sure about IUIs but at LI-IVF when I have my ETs DH is not in the room with him, though I'd love if he were. At my last RE my DH was always in the room w/ me.

Re: A question...when you have your IUI or transfer...
DH has been in the room for other visits (he's seen "the wand" in action), but not for an IUI.

He will not be there today. I don't see a need.
He can wait for me after..but I think I would rather just get it done and not have the distraction.

DH has been there for both IUI & ET but not anymore...he feels uncomfortable and I am fine with not having him there.

Re: A question...when you have your IUI or transfer...
DH has never come with me to my IUIs or any of my RE appointments (except when I had surgery).
The IUI takes 5 minutes and I just didn't feel like I needed him in the room with me, though I know he would have came if I asked him to.

Re: A question...when you have your IUI or transfer...
For IUI, if DH came with me he went in. Only because I asked him to. Otherwise he would have been happy to wait outside. And he stood by my head. Don't think they like the idea of someone being in their territory.
For ET it all depends on where you go. I've done that at 2 separate clinics. He was not allowed in (I'm sure he was totally excited about that). The ER/ET room is very sterile and its just one more person coming in with germs etc.... and also the ET is over so fast it would just add more time to the process. I know my DH would start asking all kinds of questions.

Re: A question...when you have your IUI or transfer...
DH only came to one IUI appt. and then he only came in after it was done, while I waited in the room for 15-20 minutes. He was having a hard time with the fact we were even doing IUI, so I felt it best for him not to see the actual procedure - and actually the other 2 times I went w/o him and for me, I found it better - not sure why.

Re: A question...when you have your IUI or transfer...
He comes in the room with me. It would be fine if he didn't though, I don't really care. He always uses them as an excuse to take the day off though so I think that's why he comes LOL. Although I think it would be weird for me if he waited outside.
I definitely want him in the room for our ET.

Re: A question...when you have your IUI or transfer...
Every time DH came with me to RE he was in the room. He stares at the screen when RE does the sono and even watched the RE do the IUI. Afterwards while I was laying on the table he was explaining to me everything the RE was doing. He is so intrigued by the whole process...weirdo

Re: A question...when you have your IUI or transfer...
DH wasnt in the room when i had the IUI done. infact, after he gave his sample, he left to do errands while i waited. they had brought me in and he came back at some point.
they brought him in after wards. i had to lay there for 30 min after the IUI and he waited in the room with me.

Re: A question...when you have your IUI or transfer...
DH came with me for the IUI's and stayed by my head, in the corner of the room. He watched the sono after the IUI and was fascinated at the experiences...
I have not started IVF yet - but I am sure when I do start the process next month DH will be joining me for the ET if our RE's office allows him in for that experience.
After the IUI's when I was just laying there for 20 minutes - I liked the company and the distraction... I felt like I had someone to talk to and it made the time go by faster...JMO!

Re: A question...when you have your IUI or transfer...
DH came with me for IUIs when they were on weekends. He sang "Row Row Row Your Boat" just after one of them. He also pretended to use the "bendy" lamp as a light sabre. It kept things light and funny. I kind of needed that.

Re: A question...when you have your IUI or transfer...
DH has been there for every ET and for 2 out of 3 IUIs (was fortunate they fell on the weekend). Some believe that there is some sort of bonding process that goes on although for me I feel like it makes him more of the process and not just a "donor."

Re: A question...when you have your IUI or transfer...
He's been in the room for all my IUI's, but at our clinic noone is permitted to come into the transfer room anyway, so he's usually not there - I go alone most of the time.

Re: A question...when you have your IUI or transfer...
DH has never been in the room with me for an IUI or transfer. Even if he was allowed, he'd pass. It's too squeemish for him.
