A short leap to a nervous breakdown...
God, if I don't get away SOMEWHERE or at least have somewhere planned by the end of this week, I may seriously lose it on someone.
I need a vacation so badly, it's sad...
Anyone have some ideas for a 3-4 day excursion with a 16 month old? RELAXING??? Is that even possible?
Ideas? Help? A drink?

I am with you. Not sure where to suggest though. Maybe Florida? There's a Club Med near my parents' town. I think it's called Sandpiper. My friend went there with her two kids and liked it. They have activities for the kiddies.
In the meantime, open a bottle of wine or break out the blender for some margaritas!

Re: A short leap to a nervous breakdown...
Last year Dh and I took Alex to Club Med Sandpiper in FL for 5 days. One word: nurserycare. They had a nursery that watched the babies at the center of the resort for 8 hours a day. DH and I sailed, ate, lounged, slept, you name it... well worth the $$$

That's so funny!! We both suggested the same place. I'm glad to hear you liked it too. My parents live 15 mintues from there. DH has played golf there. I don;t think we can every stay there though since my parents are so close. We have to stay with them.

Not so sure DH would feel comfortable leaving her with strangers (he thinks our daycare lady is gonna steal her one day because she is always telling us how much she loves Bella )
I just need a Beach and fast.... Is it warm in say march...?

Re: A short leap to a nervous breakdown...
We went to Turks & Caicos in November. They have all Sesame Street characters there...it's kid friendly and a family resort.
Traveling w/a 16 month old is not going to be relaxing unless like the others said, dropping her off in the nursery. We did this one day for 1/2 day. They give you a pager and if they need you, they'll page you.

We went in April and it was very nice weather. DH was very hesitant at first in using the daycare, so we stopped by a few times with Alex and spent a good half hour there checking things out. I have to say, the care was EXCELLENT. It helps that the program is literally at the center of the resort, right next to all the pools, so you can literally just lay out by the pool and pop your head in every few minutes to make sure all is ok. They also have all the amenities to make it easier for you - cribs, strollers, baby food, cheerios, high chairs galore, etc. The only drawback is because it is so kid-friendly, the place is TEEMING with children, so it won't exactly be a "romantic" getaway. They have a chef in the restaurant who will also prepare fresh baby food.

Re: A short leap to a nervous breakdown...
Actually, DH and I are starting to plan our next trip, either while Alex's school is closed for Passover, or summer break, and I stumbled on this place in my research - it has all the baby amenties, and if you and DH dare, nursery care as well. It's fairly reasonable price-wise as well:
Almond Beach Village

What about Beaches resorts? All inclusive and they have sesame street characters and stuff for the kids. My friend went there when her DD was 2yrs old and loved it.

sometimes when everything is hectic... ie) new job, moving into a new home, raising a child etc you tend to go on autopilot and adrenaline kind f pushes you over all the humps.
It's when the path levels out and the high stress levels off that things begin to soak in and actually hit you. I think you've earned a vacay after all you've accomplished this year!!!!
