A Shower at 36 Weeks?
From what I understand most women have their showers between 30 and 34 weeks.
My MIL and mom are supposed to be planning my shower but I know for a fact that they have done NOTHING because they are waiting for me and DH to send the invitation. YES you read that right.
So we were originally thinking of having the shower on 9/12 when I am 34 weeks but since that is just 6 weeks away and invites have not been sent yet, I am thinking of pushing it back to 9/26 when I am 36 weeks. It is going to be held in my parents backyard.
Am I going to be too uncomfortable to enjoy it?
I am just so stressed right now - I am actually home sick from work, totally stressed induced, had to have a z-pack prescribed, and in the deep recesses of my brain just realized that NO ONE has been planning my shower!
I just want to cry right now. This is my bridal shower all over again. I am envious of all you ladies that have people in your lives that love and support you and that are excited to plan an event for you. Please count your blessings.

I know this feeling all to well.
In truth, I would keep the date, and order your invites STAT to go out this weekend.
my invites just started arriving in people's mailboxes exactly four weeks to the day (Saturday the first wave arrived) of my shower. I will be 34 weeks on the day of.
based on how I feel now, at 30 weeks, I can't imagine going any further than 34 weeks with everything else we have to do..especially since the shower will be in MY house, and regardless of who does what, it's still an added stress.
Peekaboo Pumkin I know does 2nd day delivery, so if you order something today, it should arrive soon.
good luck.

I felt the same way. I will be exactly 36 weeks the day of my shower. Its the only day my mom is free to fly up in Oct. I was a little upset but there is nothing I can do.

Mine was at 36 weeks. There isn't a "set" frame of time to have a baby shower. As long as everything is fine so far with your pregnancy, you'll still feel fine then.

Re: A Shower at 36 Weeks?
If you are thinking of having any jewish guests they likely would be unable to attend on 9/26 b/c that is yom kippur. I would keep the 12th and get the invites out now. It is fine to give 4 weeks notice for a shower.

Re: A Shower at 36 Weeks?
I think that keeping the 34 wk date, 6 wks from now is fine, just send invites as soon as possible, but I think there is enough notice.

Re: A Shower at 36 Weeks?
Hey Alisha...I'm sorry you have to go through this. I say keep the original date, I think for the most part everyone knows the date right in the family? Even though if you do push the date there will be more of a likelyhood that I can attend Not for nothing I gave birth to Jade at 35wks 5days so I wouldn't have made it. Call me up girl...I can help you!!! Love ya

Re: A Shower at 36 Weeks?
I personally would keep the date you have and get the invites out asap. I wouldn't cut it so close. You never know, things could start to stir up by 36 weeks

Re: A Shower at 36 Weeks?
Thank you everyone for your kind words and suggestions.
I talked it over with DH and we are going to buy the invites at a stationary store on Friday, print & address them on Saturday and put them in the mail on Sunday. So hopefully by the middle of next week folks will start to receive them.
I am sticking with 9/12 (34 weeks) as the date b/c I know myself and I am going to want a few weeks to make sure that our home is ready for a baby. I don't think I can handle packing my hospital bag and stressing about installing a car seat, etc. once my water breaks.
I am feeling calmer now. Next step is to get the moms on board so they can handle the rest!

Re: A Shower at 36 Weeks?
My shower was at 36 weeks. I was pretty comfortable. Of course, the baby came at 34 weeks though.
If you want it at 36 weeks, that's fine. The ony thing I'd recommend is know who gets your car seat in case you need it earlier.

Re: A Shower at 36 Weeks?
My Shower was at 35 weeks & I basically planned by myself & my mother paid for it. If I didn't start the planning, it would have never got done.
