A Story for new moms going back to work or any other daycare moms
We hear so many negative daycare stories so I thought I would share a good one. I had to go back to work when DS was 10 weeks old and it killed me. I worried throughout my maternity leave about leaving him. The first week it was very hard for me and little by little it got easier. Well DS is almost 5 months old and he loves daycare. Today I dropped him off around 7:15 like I always do. His primary care giver was there and said Hi Mr. Brady...In the south were we live it is very common for everyone to refer to everyone as Mr and Mrs First name. He didn't even see her, he just heard her and he started wiggling and flapping his arms around and smiling and laughing because he was so excited to see her. She picked him up out of his car seat and gave him a kiss on his head and a hug which he loved. The other woman came in two minutes later and he did the same to her. I love the place that DS is and I no longer feel badly leaving him there. DH and I pick him up unexpectedly all the time and he is always very well taken care of and usually in someone arms. I know that he can't get the care anywhere else that I can give him but this is the next best thing for him. So as support to those new working moms, let's post what we like about our daycares because I know there are many great daycare's out there and we usually only hear about the bad ones.

My son isnt in daycare, but I think your idea is really great. I am a big advocate of the environment that daycare provides, and I think its a great idea to share the positives, there are a ton!
ETA...So glad he loves daycare and hes well taken care of! Very cute.

Re: A Story for new moms going back to work or any other daycare moms
Thanks for posting this - this is my first week bck at work and it's tough. My 2 yr old ds has been in daycare and he loves it ! They are great with him and I think it is an excellent environment for him. My 4 month old is going now and I can see how much they care for her and how happy she is. I also have a babysitter on Wed and while she is great, I prefer them in their daycare and I feel more secure with them there !!

Re: A Story for new moms going back to work or any other daycare moms
Thank you for posting this. My DS will start daycare in the fall. He will be going to a private daycare in someone's home. When we visited kids were getting picked up and were running to the woman with great big smiles and hugs to say goodbye. I could tell she loves all the kids she watches and that they love her right back. We walked out the door and I turned to DH and said, "I could leave my little one here and know they were being well taken care of." We both such a great feeling from the place.
I'm going to hate leaving my little boy, but I really do think he's going to have fun playing and interacting with the other kids all day. And I am hoping he has big smiles and hugs for when I come pick him up.

Cailen goes NUTS when we are getting ready to leave an I say - you want to see Miss Ada??? He runs to the door and says "bye bye!"
In the car when we are at a red light, I say, "do you want to see Jane? And....... Sally? And...." With all the kids in hs class, he waits for me to say another name and gets so excited...
He loves daycare - it breaks my heart when I can't send him on a weekday....

Great post!!
Thomas loves his daycare too. He can't wait to get to the toys, his teachers and friends.
This was perfect timing for your post because this week was a little rough dropping Thomas off at daycare. We had just spent a 4 day weekend together and he cried the past two days when I dropped him off. I cried too... I think he's feeling a little separation anxiety. This post made me feel better!

Re: A Story for new moms going back to work or any other daycare moms
I'm very vocal about this - I absolutely ADORE our daycare. Granted, there are issues, but none so big that they really bother me.
I started daycare with my DD at 10 weeks. It was a hard transition, but almost immediately I saw the benefits. My crankmonster started laughing and playing with other babies, and she formed some really STRONG bonds with four little girls who are STILL in her class. The teachers all refer to them as the brat pack
She also formed tremendous bonds with a few of her teachers, which helped with her independence and gaining confidence. One of her teachers loves her SO much that she is our primary babysitter, and still is even though she left the school, and tells ALL the other parents at her new school she can't babysit for them because Alex is her number one priority
And Alex has just flourished in daycare. I've seen her blossom from a cranky little monster into a little girl with so much independence, confidence and spunk. She has her best friends, a little boyfriend, plays soccer, plays in the pool, does yoga, singalong, dance classes, plays, you name it.
I won't lie, it's hard at first, but more so for mommy than anyone else...and it definitely gets easier as you see how much your child loves their school
