a super quick & easy poll! :)
Everyone eats the remains of cake batter or cookie dough it seems, which contain raw eggs, which is linked to salmonella.
i've done it for years & never got sick...but if you do come down with salmonella poisioning, it's awful to have and you can be hospitalized.
i've never known anyone who had it. have you ?
thoughts?

I do sometimes. I would think you would get sick if you ate an entire bowl of it though - not just a couple licks from the spoon or so.

I am constantly eating things that should get me sick & I never have... I also don't wash my hands every 3 minutes & I rarely ever get sick

I've done it before (eaten dough with raw eggs) but not anymore. Now, I bake with eggbeaters, which are pasteurized, so that makes it okay.

I would think that if the eggs have salmonella, it only takes a couple of licks. You wouldn't need to eat the entire batch to get very sick. It will multiply once it's inside of you.
That being said, I have done that on numerous occasions. Not when DW is around... she's a bit more careful than me when it comes to what foods probably shouldn't be eaten....

I've done it on occasion and not gotten sick but I won't now that I'm pregnant just in case. I've never known anyone to get sick from it either.

This is true, but I also learned (at work in our "germ prevention" training) that the more germs there are (whether bacterial or viral), the sicker you will get. That also means that if the eggs have salmonella in them, you will get sicker if you lick the bowl clean than if you only have a couple of licks.

that's the best part of baking something is licking the bowl/spoon!
my niece and i made cookies from scratch last nite and i swear i think we ate a whole cookie sheet's worth of dough.
