A texting while driving story to make you think twice...
It infuriates me when I see people swerving on the road because they have their cell phones in their hands, texting away.
I am appalled when I see someone driving on the highway at speeds over 65 MPH looking down at their phones.
Here is a story of an 18 year old kid who will be going to prison for the next year because he killed someone while texting and driving.
How important does that stupid text message seem now?
Important enough to go to prison for 1 year at 18 years old?
Important enough to lose your license for the next 15 years?
Important enough to have a homicide conviction on your record for the rest of your life?
Important enough to have on your conscience for the rest of eternity the knowledge that you killed an innocent man because you couldn't wait to send that message?
Hopefully this story will make some people think twice before picking up the phone while driving.
Teen convicted of vehicular homicide because he was texting while driving.

I find it selfish and disgusting when I see someone with a phone in their hands. I wish there was a way to report these people. There is no reason to have a phone in your hands when driving. 9 times out of ten if a driver is going to way too slow or they are swerving they are on their phone. I think anyone who does this is a selfish a-hole and I dont care if I offend anyone on here by saying this. If you do this, you should be ashamed of yourself!!

So sad.
I see people texting and driving all the time!! It seems that every time I drive I see someone looking down texting. People just don't get it.

Even with all the laws and examples out there, I ALWAYS see people texting/talking on their cell phones while driving.

THIS. Exactly. And the penalties that the 18 year old got were way too lax. Someone is dead. Only 1 year in prison? And the license back in five years?

I can't fathom how that only warranted a year. Something is wrong with our justice system, that's a slap on the wrist.

The worst is when I see GROWN men and women with their CHILDREN in the flipping car and they are texting while driving - and all over the road! It is SO DANGEROUS! And, really, grow up!

I can honestly say I have never texted while driving and really do not see why you would ever have to. I do not even like changing my radio station when I am driving and I have controls on my steering wheel. The only way texting while driving is going to stop is if law enforcement pursues it like drunk driving.
