Abby's two month visit and update on the thrush
My lil girl is a whopping 10 pounds, 4 ounces and 23 inches long. It gave me great pleasure to see that the fruits of my BFing labor were not in vain as I officially stopped breast feeding.
HOWEVER
Last night, after her third bottle of Similac Advance which she had had in the NICU before going to the breast, I saw her face get bright red and puffy/swollen. She was not particularly kvetchy - same as always in demeanor and she was to go to the doc today anyway so I did not freak out though I immediately thought it was an allergy. So today we told the pediatrician and I was asked if I drank a lot of milk. I don't drink milk at all - hate the stuff. Because the Similac has milk protein in it, she reacted to it not having had it from me. She is now on Isomil. So far, so good.
She got her second set of shots and handled them well.
As for her/our thrush issue, the doc doesn't seem to think it is all that bad as her tongue is not all fuzzy - just a lil white. We had been prescribed Diflucan the day before from another doc in the practice AGAIN. She was to take it orally. I was to use HER meds and use it topically after I shower. The pediactrician we saw TODAY, however, said to wait a day and start then for her if there is no improvement. I hope and pray that this is all over soon. Dealing with the thrush pain and trying to "dry out" is not easy. I took a lot of everyone's advice from yesterday using cabbage, expressing my milk myself and pumping less. Thanks everyone!

Overall sounds like a good visit! I really hope that the thrush clears up for you both. It's a stubborn little PITA, that's for sure.
Oh and I'm glad the transition from BFing is going well too!

Re: Abby's two month visit and update on the thrush
It was a good visit. I am very proud of her. In classic Abby style, as always, she left her pediatrician a lovely "gift" at the end of the visit.
Its amazing how SHE is in good shape and I am not.
I have two types of pain at once. The pain from the thrush is exacerbated by the horrid engorgement. One comes from the feeling of being swollen, the other feels like shards of glass are cutting me up. I am using the pressure banadage from my c-section over a tight sports bra and when I am home, I stick two ice-packs in between the two. Sexy

I sure hope so. I may even buy myself a bra that is attractive when this is all said and done.

Glad to hear you seem to have the formula worked out.
I hope the engorgement ends ASAP....something I am totally NOT looking forward to!
I bet the thrush will heal quickly now that you aren't giving it back and forth to each other.

Now that I have this pressure bandage from my c-section, DH wrapped me so tight that I felt like a kosher sausage. I just hope it goes down soon as I don't wanna develop mastitis. They aren't sweet to the eye right now despite all of my efforts. TMI I know-sorry.
