? about Betas

Does everyone get beta hcg tests when they first find out they are pregnant? I am only about 5 weeks, and when I called my doctor yesterday he told me to come in for my first appointment at 7 weeks. But I see that alot of people had original beta's done at like 11-17 DPO for the first time.

that tends to happen when women are being treated by RE's...that's the ONLY reason i have beta info and have had an ultrasound already (and will tomorrow as well).

I went with my first PG but with this one I was told to schedule my first appt with no beta.... I guess it also depends on the dr..

When I called my doc they estimted me at 8wks, however, I thought 6 tops but they had me come in for an u/s anyway. Well all they saw was a thick uterous(?) so they had beta's drawn to try and see how far along I really was. It's not common unless you are REALLY soon and they sched an u/s and can't see anything, or in most cases, if you have infertility problems....don't worry about it

Like the others said.. My first preganancy i wasnt seeing an RE and they had me have a consultation with the NP around 8 weeks where they did all the blood work then i had a second set because they came back a little low and didnt match where i was supposed to be based on my last LMP. In my case the first pregnancy ended in a MC at 8 weeks baby stopped growing at 6. This time around i had an RE so i was in the office every week up till my 11 weeks then i went my ob at 12 weeks. where they did ALL THE SAME BLOOD WORK the RE did already! Good luck! Try to relax i know how hard it is but unless you are bleeding and cramping things are going well. Good luck!!

I never had a beta taken. My regular doc confirmed my pregnancy with a blood test (one that showed there was HCG there but not a measurement) and then my OB saw me at 8weeks.
