Question about Betas?
Hi,
I am currently TTC, and I was just wondering how frequently you all have your betas tested?
I did have a MC in February and my Dr. didn't order the test for my beta #'s at ALL until he realized I had an empty sac at 9 weeks at my 1st sonogram.
I just want to be prepared with the right questions for when I am pregnant again.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Question about Betas?
i never did! i didn't have any bloodwork done until i was 10 weeks, i didn't even get the paperwork for the labwork until i was 8 weeks.
i think every dr's office is different - but with a history of MC i would say your dr's office should be giving you a beta test after a BFP every 48 hours for a few days until they see the numbers doubling.

Re: Question about Betas?
I only had one. It was at my first appt, which was at about 5 weeks, to confirm that I was actually pregnant. I have no clue what my numbers were and didn't go back for another appt until my first sono at 8 and a half weeks.

Re: Question about Betas?
Because I am an IF patient, I've already had my beta #s tested 3 times...and I just got my BFP last Tuesday! I'm becoming a human pin cushion!
Bottom line is--you can have them checked as often as you feel comfortable. Since you've had a m/c in the past, I'm sure your OB or RE will be willing to work with you.
Best of luck!!!!

Re: Question about Betas?
I had mine tested twice, but I did IVF so that is standard protocol. Most OB's won't see you until you are 6-8 weeks and don't do betas routinely. Sorry for your loss

Re: Question about Betas?
My first pregnancy they tested my blood right away to confirm my pregnancy and gave me my #s and then set the official first appt for 8 weeks. I had a M/C with this pregnancy.
My second pregnancy, which I'm now in the 34th week of, they had me come in for a blood test when I called to say I got a BFP and my HCG was 10,000 and my Progesterone was 31.
