? about Trying to Prevent Stretch Marks
Okay, I am being vain, I really want to try to prevent stretch marks is possible.
I don't have any yet, but I am 21 wks 1 day and I can't believe I am going to get bigger! I know I am not that big logically, but I just feel big. It really is an amazing.
Anyway, back to the subject, should I start putting cocoa butter on now?
Do you out it on just at night?
All over your belly?
What are you ladies doing?

Re: ? about Trying to Preventing Stretch Marks
Well, I personally started putting cocoa butter on around 18 weeks or so, just on my belly & on my breasts too.
Thankfully I have no stretchmarks at all. However, I hear it is ENTIRELY hereditary. There's been girls that put it on from the day they found out they were pregnant & yet still got stretchmarks. I mean, it can't hurt to use, but a lot depends on mom & grandma.

Re: ? about Trying to Preventing Stretch Marks
You can try - but if they want to find you - they will!!! I put lotion and cocoa butter on every day of my pregnancy...and it didn't do any good!! Sorry!!
I'd still use the lotion though - I found my skin got even more dry than usual while I was pregnant!

Re: ? about Trying to Preventing Stretch Marks
Putting cocoa butter on can't hurt, and it will soothe dry, itchy skin, but there is nothing you can do to prevent stretch marks, unfortunately.

Re: ? about Trying to Preventing Stretch Marks
Sorry, sent too soon! I was also going to say I've been doing nothing special, and at 38 weeks I have one very small one near my groin area, but that's it. If you are prone to getting them, you will get them, cream or no cream.

Re: ? about Trying to Preventing Stretch Marks
Well I think it has to do with your mom having them, my mom never did and either did me and my sister when we were preggo, I don't have anything this time also. I always put lotion on my belly after I shower.

Re: ? about Trying to Preventing Stretch Marks
My SIL bought me the Mama Mio lotion set and swears by it - but I don't buy that it'll help so I think I've used the lotion twice so far.

Re: ? about Trying to Prevent Stretch Marks
I am just about 32 weeks and thus far have none and am VERY big. I have gained nearly 50 pounds. When I found out I was pregnant, I did a LOT of research to find out what may help, and yes, I know everyone says it is hereditary. I started using something called Mothers Special Blend at about six weeks pregnant. It's actually an oil made up of coconut oil, pecan oil, vitamin e, cocoa butter and one other ingredient I think. I literally slather myself in it as often as I can but at a minimum twice a day , once in morning when getting out of shower and once at night. I have very faint marks, from puberty on my hips so am extremely paranoid that I will get more but thus far with pregnancy have not gotten any. I know that can change any day so don't want to jinx myself but will say I HIGHLY recommend this oil. You can check out their website. I order from drugstore.com as I don't think it is sold in too many places. Hope this helps and I think its ok for us to be a little vain

Re: ? about Trying to Prevent Stretch Marks
I started putting Palmers cocoa butter on as soon as I found out I was preggo. I put it on from my thighs to my boobs and use my usual lotion everywhere else. I do believe that stretch marks are completely hereditary but I feel like it can't hurt.

Re: ? about Trying to Prevent Stretch Marks
I did palmer's cocoa butter every morning and bio-oil or johnson's baby oil every night from very early on in pregnancy and I didnt get any stretch marks. That said my mom didnt get any either BUT she had the same routine so I don't know whether it is from that or genetics It cant hurt to try!

Re: ? about Trying to Prevent Stretch Marks
during my pregnancy, I used the Palmers stretch mark cream from about 18 weeks on....
I never got one stretch mark... but I hear that its completely heritary and if your mom, grandma etc had them, your doomed also. My mom never had them so maybe it was the Palmers that did it for me - but hey, its worth a try, right?
