Accent chair help

I haven't bought anything yet for our new formal living room. But I love the idea of a blue and green color scheme with gold accents. I went to Bassett and found a couch and chair I love. I would like to do the couch in navy, but I cannot find a fabric for an accent chair that I like.

Can anyone post pictures of couches and accent chairs, any color? Just so I can see what goes nicely together?

I keep looking for a fabric for the chair that has navy to "go" with the couch...... But maybe I should be trying something different?

Then sometimes I think I should give up and do a navy couch and navy chair. People in my family who are better decorators than I am say that's a no no!

I am terrible at decorating.

I'm also going to look for a rug soon...maybe that will help?

Re: Accent chair help

We are getting Bassett couches also and have been playing with different color schemes. We were thinking navy but moved away from that.

Now we are likely doing grey couches that are woven/chenille, the material is different and really nice in person--has dimension to it. For the pillows are are doing a chevron pattern of green/blue/grey/ white.

Our accent chairs are going to be a teal--it is a really great bright color in a woven type material, we are doing a smoke patterned bolster pillows for these.

It is SO hard choosing but we really like this and like that if we change the throw pillows we have a pretty neutral base and can go in a different direction color wise.

the colors and fabrics look so different in person (much better lol) but just to give you an idea

Thank you so much, especially for posting pics! It is soo helpful.

I like how you went with 2 solid colors for the furniture and then tied them together with pillows. Maybe that's the route I need to go. Maybe navy couch and a solid green chair? Excited about this idea... Chat Icon

Something with a print

Yellow and beige, yellow and light blue, something with orange in it.

Chair

Another

You could also do a tone on tone print in beige if the color aspect freaks you out. With navy couches i would go with a bold colored print and then add pillows to the couch that tie it all together.

My DH was pushing for the chair in chevron but I KNOW I will be sick of it I figure with the pillows I can always switch it up, honestly even the teal I am nervous I will get sick of it Chat Icon at the same time I want something to POP. We may do two smaller accent chairs as opposed to chair and half I just gave pics to give an idea. IMO the solids or a muted color print are the way to go, to do a wild print for an expensive chair seems crazy to me unless you can afford to replace whenever you get sick of it lol

Re: Accent chair help

I bought my accent chairs from Target...they are printed but they were also cheap, so when i want to replace them, I will. They are actually much better quality than I imagined and they have so many prints. Everyone who walks into my living room loves them, which cracks me up, because they were so cheap and bought from the internet with the hopes that they would match as well as they do.

Re: Accent chair help

check overstock.com too. I got a nice accent chair there. It was an oatmeal color so it won't help your search but I'm sure you can find something you'd like.
