According to DH I failed AGAIN
DD birthday is Saturday, she said she wanted to go to the American Girl store, get a doll and have lunch there. That is what I planned. DH is now flipping because I didn't plan a kids party for her. Sorry but the AG store is expensive his bday is next week and the money tree in the back yard is bare Just shoot me

He said my head is up my @ss because I didn't plan a party for her IN ADDITION to the trip to AG. With my luck if he asks her if she wanted a party of course she'll say yes, but what kid wouldn't..

But then if you say you were doing both you would get yelled at for spending too much money... can't win!
I give the kids a choice every birthday. They either get a present they want or a party. So far they've always chosen the present.

Going to the American Girl Store is an AMAZING experience! It's a little girl's dream! And many girls would want that more then a birthday party! I think you did the right thing!

Tell big mouth to call me. He knows that is what we did with DD and she did not want a party she wanted AG and she was totally fine with it. She loved it sooo much guess what we are doing again. Tell him to call me because if you failed that means I did too and I am ******!

We did this last year and my dd LOVED it so much, she didn't miss having a party. Will probably do it again for the next bday as well.

I think that's a great present. I don't know anything about the cost, I have two boys, but would it be possible to bring 1 or 2 of her friends too? Would that make your DH happy?

Yeah except he won't, he will be doing an all day bike tour of the Hamptons and J has a football game, just have no idea what time yet

I think people are getting over the 1k bday parties and doing more things like this now

My niece asked to do this as she got a little older. It's a win-win. It's what she wants to do and will cost a lot less than a big party.

Rj isnt having a party this year either... we are doing Great Wolf Lodge instead... honestly its hard to do parties in September...I didnt get my class list until a few days ago....
