acid reflux while sleeping - grasping for air
I am 35 weeks and have had bad heartburn and acid reflux at night. Today I took a nap on the couch from black friday shopping and woke up choking because the reflux had come up while i was sleeping and I immediately threw up....has anyone else experience this? It reallly freaked me out.....i'm taking my heartburn medication now because i forgot to take it this morning....let me know!

I'm just about 23 weeks (with triplets) and the same thing happened to me last night....I definately scared my husband. I ended up taking tums and sitting up for a little while until I felt better.

Yup, I get it every night its horrible!!!! I take 2 tums before bed time, seems to help a little!

Never had heartburn in my entire life until I got into the second trimester. Since then though, it has been relentless! I take tums and zantac. I have woken up a few times gasping for air as well! So scary...but glad I'm not alone!  LOL!

Yes! I am 32 weeks and this happened to me a few times. I woke up choking and tasted the acid. It made me vomit but then I felt better. Now I take two tums before bed and either sit up or I make a wedge with the pillows so my head is elevated.

yes i have had horrible acid reflux for the past 3 months- i take 1 pepcid ac a day and that really helps!!

i have had this before - maybe twice before being pregnant but especially since late 2nd trimester, its terrible. i usually sleep a few hours sitting up on couch afterwards which works for me and i drink milk and tums after ...

I'm glad i'm not the only one that has experienced this, thanks ladies! yea i never had heart burn before I was pregnant either so i definitely can't wait to be done with it! I have been trying not to eat too late at night which has been helping....
