acne meds
I went to the derm. and spent $30 bc I am breaking out. She prescribes a gel for $60, a face wash for $75 and antibiotics for $108!!!!!!! I cant afford all of that! So I guess I am stuck with breakouts . . .
ETA: the funny thing is that i went bc i didnt want to buy the stuff at the spa that my facial lady told me to get - and that would have been cheaper!

Re: acne meds
What? That's ridiculous! Do you not have health insurance that covers the meds? My derm always gives me samples, so if anything, all i'd have to pay for is the antibiotics, but for $108.. screw that..

Re: acne meds
I feel your pain! Insurance companies often view acne medications as being for "cosmetic" purposes only. I have been lucky on occasion though, as to where my pharmacist will call my derm and ask him to change a code or something and then it will sometimes go through.

Are you near the Huntington area? I would recommend my derm. He is not a big fan of wasting money (he also has his PhD in Pharmacology.)

Wow thats insane!!! I go to the derm to, because i like paying my copay for creams and pills etc.
Was the pill she gave you Solodyn? I dont think its generic yet
My Derm has her own facewash that she sells and a bottle literally lasts me 5 months and its 18 dollars and i use it every single day.

Re: acne meds
That is crazy! What meds did the doc prescribe? Could you maybe get a generic? Find out what the meds are then call your insurance to see if there is a brand that they prefer. It may cost less this way.

Re: acne meds
Its completely insane. I have a $20 copayment and then each of my meds costs $50 a piece. I have to pay the highest rates for them on my rx plan. Fortunately the meds last me a long time but it does suck. I use clindagel for my face and triaz for my back.
