acne scars?
I thankfully am not struggling with acne like I used to in college , thanks to accutane, but now unfortunately I still have scarring on my cheeks. I actually went to my dermatologist and went through gentle peel treatments, but $900 later my skin is still not what I'd want it to be. What products have you used to treat facial scarring? I'm just so tired of this and I think I'd feel so much more confident if I could correct this problem. TIA

Re: acne scars?
I wish I had some advice- because I have the same problem. It really makes me feel self conscious. I always focus right in it on when I look in the mirror and I feel like it makes me look older. I have heard that they can do collagen injections- to plump up and fill in the depressions and also that laser treatment can help. Unfortuneatly I don't have the money to even look into this at this point. Let me know if you find anything that works.

Re: acne scars?
Okay...it sounds like you are talking about ice pick scars, the kind that indent. I don't have any of those...but I have had some red marks from old breakouts and those DO fade with time. I also use a product called Murad Age Spot Pigment Lightening Gel. It's $$$ at Sephora, but I got mine on Ebay. It has glycolic acid and hydroquinone, which lighten the marks and make the skin very smooth. As for ice pics marks, I think the derm is the only one who can help those....

I have tried that Mederma stuff. It's supposed to lessen the apperance of old scars. It smelled GOD AWFUL and since it's on your face you smell it even more. It really didn't do anything either.

Re: acne scars?
I have pretty bad red marks left by acne, which can look as bad as the acne itself!
I bought Proactiv's skin lightening lotion with hydroquinone, and while it takes a while to work, it usually does. I wouldn't say it's any better than straight up vitamin E though.........

I have the same problem, and was looking into having a der. look at it, but cant afford it either. Do you think any of those microdermabrasion products work??

I have one of those home microderm kits- it comes with the rechargable unit that spins the dermabrasion pad. It works ok but doesn't get rid of the scars. Basically it exfoliates all the dead skin cells that have settled into the depressions so that the scars are less noticeable and your make up goes on smoother.
