Acrylic nail question
I had a nail that lifted and between the last time I got a fill-in and today I started getting what I believe is a fungus. I just took off the one nail and I am due for a fill-in Friday. Can I have the nail replaced? I know I probably shouldn't but just wanted some opinions. Thanks ladies.

Re: Acrylic nail question
Well if they are a reputable nail salon, and know what they are doing they won't put another nail on. It's happened to my mom a couple of times. She gets hers done at an upscale american salon, and her nail technician advised to wait until next fill in. Cut your nail and throw some anti fungus cream on it like lamisil, put a bandaid on it and get the other fingers done.

Re: Acrylic nail question
I would not put another nail on it till the fungus grows out...that happened to me once when a few of my nails lifted and i got water in them...I got a fungus on three nails!
I took all my wraps off and let the fungus grow out.

Re: Acrylic nail question
it is more than likely not a fungus - but water mold - they will probably file it off (it only goes on the outer layer of your nail) a water mold happens when a fake nail lifts and wtaer gets trapped - it is harmless, but gross looking you can get another nail on it
if you have nails lift in the future make sure to clean it with rubbing alcohol to dry it out

Re: Acrylic nail question
I'd ask them to make sure it is definitely a fungus & not just mold. If they can remove it with a buffer & some acetone it was mold.

Re: Acrylic nail question
Honestly, I would leave it off for a few days to "breathe". My mom got a fungus/mold under her fake nail and she had to have her nail removed b/c of it!

Yeah, it was pretty nasty. Her real nail grew in on an angle...
