Storage Question??? After you sold and were in transition????
If you had to put your stuff in storage, how much (about) did it cost, who did you use, how did you go about getting everything there??
We're probably closing on our house before we purchase a new home. My DH is not too happy about the thought of staying with people. I'm trying to get all of the info together to present to him so he does bug out.
I'm so confused and nervous about the who thing (and no, we didn't find a house yet).
We're moving from Putnam back to LI - so it's a pretty big move and we have a 13 month old.

You should DEFINITELY look into a POD. You can pack it up, they come and take it, store it, and then deliver it to your new house whenyou're ready. Sorry i am not sure of the cost- I am sure it's more expensive han a storage unit, but a small price to pay for not having to pack twice!

we have our stuff in storage at a public storage facility. We have a 10x12 unit and its $139/month. We moved the stuff from our apartment to the storage unit with a uhaul. I looked into the PODS they were really expensive.

We used a POD for us it was about the same cost as a storage place and renting a Uhual, plus then you only have to pack and unpack once. Less chance that something will get broken.

we had the moving company pick up all our stuff and store it - we lived in a high rise apartment so a pod was not possible for us - it was cheaper for the number of units we needed to rent from the moving company - but pretty much had to pay for two days of moving- but everything was taken care of nicely

we had a 10x10 storage at public storage in Hicksville for $150 a month - the first month was free
ETS: what I liked was we could go in and get things we needed.

Thanks everyone. I looked into PODS and although expensive (more because we are moving from Putnam to Nassau) it's worth it.
The monthly storage isn't really that bad either.

I sold my house, and dont move into my new one til next week, so we had 2 months of limbo. We went with a POD, so we did have to pack and unpack twice into a storage unit. We used to of the Large pods. Initial cost was about 200 each, then approx. 150 a month each, and 75 each to get them redelivered.
GOOD LUCK!

Re: Storage Question??? After you sold and were in transition????
We have a storage unit year round.
We live in an appt. and we just don't have room for all of our holiday decorations, snowboarding/skiing equipment, camping equipment, etc.
We recently upgraded to a 10x15 and pay about $170 a month (this includes extra insurance on our stuff).
We were paying about $100 a month for a 5x15.
