Acupuncture to Induce labor - review...
I just wanted to post about my experience last night in case anyone else is interested in trying this.
I am not in labor yet, but he said he could take a couple of days and some people need a couple of treatments -
First I want to say that I've been to this acupuncturist before, so I knew sort of what to expect...
He asked me details about my pregnancy, how it went, was I sick, what kind of pains I was getting - basically any little sympton I had during my 9 months.
Then he had me lie down on the table with my legs below the knees and my shoulders exposed (I sort of expected this so brought a tank top and cropped pants to change in to)
He put needles in certain pressure points on my legs, ankles, hands and shoulders/neck. he attached something to make a few of them pulse and made sure I was comfortable. By the way - the needles do NOT hurt-even when he puts them in- if they do, its being done wrong and you should tell them that it hurts - he put one in that I felt and I told him and he adjusted it right away.
Anyway - he left me for 10 minutes to relax with soft music. During that time, I could feel the baby moving A LOT - I felt her have the hiccups and move around - it was more that I've ever felt her move. The acupuncurist came in and adjusted the needles a bit and then left me for an additional 10 minutes - and I could still feel her moving. He said the pressure points he used stimulte uterine contractions and that hopefully the baby would get a clue that it was time to go.
I hope it works! I go to the Dr tomorrow morning - If I'm at least dilated, I will consider it a success.
The cost was $85 for the session-
