ADDED PICS.....I'M BACK WITH MY LITTLE MAN!!! MY BIRTH STORY!
So, I posted on Monday that the doc said I was 2cm & 80% effaced with the baby very low and he thought I'd go into labor in 24 hrs. I lost my mucous plug on the way back from the docs office that afternoon. Went home, feeling nothing and did some stuff around the house.
7pm Back pain started. I didn't think anything of it, do I laid down with the heating pad.
8pm Back not getting any better, so I decide to take a hot shower.
8:30 Belly pain starts and I'm thinking I just need to take a big poop because I had been sooo constipated.
9:00pm Belly really hurts. It's hurting almost continuously, so I don't think it could be labor. But worried, I open up contraction master.com and start timing.
9:30pm Contraction Master shows I'm having pain every 1-2 minutes. I get really worried, call the doc and say I'm coming down to the hospital.
10pm in the car on the way. Start feeling the pain begin in my back and radiate towards my belly--know it's contractions now, but I'm really worried that they came on so strong and quickly for a first child. I also start to feel like I need to poop/push, so I tell DH to step on it before I have the baby in the car on the LIE.
10:50pm admitted to L&D. There are like 10 people in the roon in like 5 min and everyone is rushing around--we'er thinking something is wrong, but no one is telling us anything. .Beginning for an epidural as soon as I get in and so afraid they're gonna tell me it's too late, cause I think I would have had a breakdown. Doc checks and I'm still only 2cm. I tell her I feel like I want to push already.
11:30pm Doc checks, I'm 4cm now and my water breaks while she checking.
12:00pm Get my epidural, Hallelujah! She checks right after and I'm 7cm!
They let me sit in the room this way for awhile, then everyone starts rushing in doing stuff. They do this for awhile and we're getting really nervous again. Finally, the doc says the baby's heart rate is low. She checks me and I'm 8cm. She tells me she's manually trying to stimulate my cervix to finish, but she can't get it to open. We're doing an emergency c-section.
12:50 rushed to OR. I'm getting really scared when they start doing surgery in 2 seconds and my DH hasn't even gotten his scrubs on and come in yet. I feel pressure and hear the baby cry. DH comes in a few minutes alater, treated to a nice view of my insides, but missed the baby--he's in the corner getting worked on. No one has told us anything. Finally they give him the baby and I'm relieved. I get sewed up and shipped off the recovery.
So, at 12:50 am April 10 2007, after the shortest labor I never dreamed I would have, DS was born weighing 6 lbs 10 oz and 20in! He's so adorable! He has all of his father's traits so far, which is fine by me! I will add pics when I can.
My recovery has been surprisingly easy. I got up and moving around as soon as possible, so maybe that helped, but I was off pain meds by day 3 and only taking the occassional Motrin just when I was feeling my uterus contract, but it wasn't painful anyway. I was OK, so I asked for early discharge and we came home yesterday. Last night was our first night home and it was difficult to adjust. I had a bit of a cry and made some choices on how to proceed and I think we're going to do well now...exhausted, but well.

Wow - what a story! I recovered quickly from my c-section as well, but definitely did not want an early discharge - I was enjoying everyday at the hospital, I have to say!!!
